Might not have had a chance to counter.
Just spoke with an Oklahoma State official and was told Brad Underwood flew back with the team after the Michigan game Friday, landing at 8 pm CT. There was no indication he was leaving. School official was stunned and learned about his hiring at Illinois via twitter.

my youngest son is a Sr at oSu. He's bummed. Big Time. They were super stoked last year when they got him.

Who do you think they go after ? Either Drew bro ? Jankovich ?

I really really like this hire. Like a lot. Out of left field but man do I like Underwood. I was super impressed with OSU this year especially against Michigan

Also one of the ESPN guys tweeted that he likely left in large part because he didn't like the AD at OSU.

Huge hire. Saw him coach yesterday and loved his style. Will help bring Illinois back. time to see who the assistants will be.

Underwood sounds like a really solid hire. My only worry is that Underwood may bolt back to K-State as soon as Weber is fired, given his deep roots there. The fact that head coaches rarely jump between programs within the same conference makes me wonder if we will be his K-State stepping stone ala Bill Self.

not worried. you deal with that then , when and if. right now, he have a guy who can take what we have, and get 23-24 W's out of them.

Great hire. JW quickly becoming one of the best AD's out there. Underwood is a winner with a great background.
