Morehead State wins the OVC, putting Belmont into at-large peril at best.

Upsets aplenty in today's SoCon tourney in Asheville, NC. 1 seed UNC Greensboro was the only higher seed to win, defeating The Citadel 80-72. 5 seed East Tennessee State defeated 4 seed Chattanooga 63-53, 7 seed Mercer upset 2 seed Wofford 62-61, and 6 seed VMI beat 3 seed Furman 91-90 in OT.

The SoCon semifinals tomorrow look like this:

1) UNC Greensboro vs. 5) ETSU
(7) Mercer vs. 6) VMI

1 seed Wagner was upset by 4 seed Mt. St. Mary's in today's NEC semifinals 66-60. The Mount will play at Bryant Tuesday night. The Bulldogs defeated Sacred Heart 85-55, which is all the more impressive considering Bryant only had 7 available players due to covid protocols.

Upsets in the America East today too. 6 seed UMass Lowell upset 1 seed UMBC 79-77 and 4 seed Hartford beat 2 seed Vermont 71-65. The winner of next Saturday's final at Hartford will be making its 1st NCAA Tournament appearance. Hartford has been D-1 since 1985. UMass Lowell has been fully D-I since 2017.

Hope we play the winner in the tourney.

probably. MSU is a bubble team and look at their resume compared to Belmont
The problem for the Belmont's is that they will never get a tougher schedule. If you were in charge of UI's out of conference schedule, would you schedule a Belmont? Not much upside to that, and a greater than zero possibility of downside.

Fair point, but not unique to Belmont. I'd be interested to see all their metrics this year compared to the year they beat Maryland in the tourney (I believe the 2019 tourney?). That year they lost to Ja Morant's Murray State in the OVC final.

Edit: Looks like in 2019 Belmont was in the 40s in NET. This year they are in the 90s

Couple others upset I missed last night included Appalachian State upsetting Texas State, who was the 1 seed in the East Division in the Sun Belt, 76-73 in OT. Today's Sun Belt semifinals look like this:

E1) Georgia State vs. W2) Louisiana
E2) Coastal Carolina vs. E4) Appalachian State

Another upset was 9 seed Loyola (MD) upsetting 1 seed Navy 76-68 and 6 seed Bucknell defeating 3 seed Lafayette 92-84 in the Patriot League quarterfinals. Wednesday's Patriot League semifinals look like this:

9) Loyola (MD) at 4) Army
6) Bucknell at 2) Colgate

Belmont actually had better opponents scheduled this year but Covid wiped out a number of their games.

If Drake wins , does that take away a bubble team off a line (don`t think Drake is a at-large bid , since losing some games starting undefeated)? Loyola fore sure has a at-large bid win or lose today.
And does Wichita State get a automatic bid winning their conference (regular season) with a solid record , and depending on their conference tourney at-large bid if another team runs the table , thinking Houston a shoe in , Wichita State and Memphis ? What does committee do with them ? .

Atlantic Sun official champion has been decided! Liberty would have gone regardless, as North Alabama was ineligible for the tourney.

Appalachian State pulls off another upset in the Sun Belt Tournament, knocking off 2nd seed East Division team Coastal Carolina. The Mountaineers will face Georgia State for the Sun Belt tournament championship tomorrow night.

And in the SoCon, Mercer continues its run, defeating 6 seed VMI 73-59. The 7th seeded Bears will face the top seed UNC Greensboro tomorrow night.

Not even the CAA is immune to upsets this postseason. Elon, who was seeded 8th in the tournament, upset top seeded James Madison today 72-71. And 6th seeded Drexel beat 3rd seeded Charleston 80-75. Tomorrow night's CAA semifinals look like this:

4) Hofstra vs. 8) Elon
2) Northeastern vs. 6) Drexel

Watching the Horizon League semifinal with Milw. vs Clev St. Maybe it is just me, but nice to see head coaches in suits. Tired of seeing too many coaches dressed like schlubs.
