Chicago Bears 2016-2017 Season

No clue about the level of TE talent right now in CFB, but man do we need one here soon.

Should be an interesting draft tonight. It could go a lot of different ways. As far as the first round pick, I see it going 4 ways.

1.) Trade down. If none of their top guys slip down (Hargreaves, Floyd, Jack), instead of reaching for someone at 11 they should pick up some more picks. Shaq Lawson is someone they could trade down for.
2.) Get one of the guys I mentioned above.
3.) Elliot. If he's there, it would be really tough to pass. I wouldn't be mad at this pick but RB isn't even in our top 5 or 6 needs IMO.
4.) Trade up? We have 9 picks so we have some flexibility to move up if we really love someone. If we did this it would probably be for Buckner or Ramsey, maybe Jack. Pace would only do this if he can get a good/fair deal though. He wouldn't give up too much.

As far as the rest of the draft goes, I think we'll try to get a QB at some point. Probably round 4 at the earliest unless they really like a guy. Maybe Hackenberg or Cardell Jones. But there have been some rumors that Hackenberg will go higher. It will also be interested to see what happens with Jaylen Smith, the guy who tore his ACL in the bowl game. It's a huge risk and he has to sit out all season, but if he comes back 100% it could be a huge steal. I would take him in the 5th round at the earliest.

Kind of lukewarm on the pick of Floyd in the first round. He really looks small and seems to be more of a project than a guy that can make an impact immediately.

A 6'6 240lb linebacker doesn't seem that small to me. But I'm sure he will be hitting the weights hard with the right nutrition to put on a little more size. He's also really fast. I really like what he brings.

I'm pretty livid. I wanted Vernon Hargreaves all along after I realized Elliot was going to the Cowboys. Could have got Vernon and kept the 4th round pick.

I trust Pace but Kevin White misses the whole year then he trades up to draft a project?

Give Floyd a year under Fangio. You'll see a big jump

I mean, you don't trade up two spots unless it's to get your must have guy and apparently they feel Floyd is that guy. Fun fact: the other two defensive players taken in the top 10 for a John fox coached team are Julius peppers and Von Miller. Let's hope Floyd plays up to that bar

And the Giants were targeting him at #10. So - if they really wanted him, they had to jump up 2 spots.

That's what was reported. If they didn't move up, the Giants were taking him. I'm guess hey we're okay with giving up a 4th rounder for it since we still have two more 4 th round picks.

And now we get that 3 4th rounders back. And it sounds like we got a very versatile guard. I'm ok with it so far. There were some talented players we passed up on in round 2, but I'm confident in Pace.

Good draft on paper. Evidently next year is loaded with RB's so Langford, Carey, and Howard have one year to show what they can do without Forte. If it's not good enough we can find someone next year.

Yep. Fournette, Dalvin Cook, and Christian McCaffrey are underclassmen who may come out. Nick Chubb may be part of the draft class as well.

Defense should be greatly improved, especially the LB corps.

Any chance at a better o-line, as it pertains to the running game? I don't think that the RB's are as good as Forte, or at least, last couple years of Forte. But I am hoping for better holes.

There is always a chance, but it is not looking too good there. It will all depend on how the young guys step up and if Grasu made any improvement in the off season.

All I have read is that they will be younger and more athletic. Whether that means they will be better remains to be seen.

I admit to having a really hard time getting my "give a crap" up for this Bears season. Part of that is the great baseball season, and another part is that the Illini's off season has been so eventful that I haven't really had a chance to pay attention.

The team should be better than last year, generally good health assumed. 7 to 9 wins maybe. Should probably be within shouting distance of a wild card birth for most of the season.

A lot of new names to learn on D.

Excited to see Jeffery and White play together. If we get good Cutler then I think 8-10 wins is definitely attainable.
