Well the Bears are well on their way to getting blown out by the Eagles. All three phases of the game are sucking today. Along with Illinois, this is another season that can't end soon enough.
If there is a bright spot in all of this, they do have a chance for a win next week when they host the 49ers.
No. Need to go Bulls style full on tank mode. Anything better than 3-13 is more negative than positive. Goal should be semicompetitive losses with obvious growth from Trubisky.
I like Fangio, but if you want the best head coach you can get, you have to allow him to make his own assistant hires.
I'm not a Fox fan, I didn't like the hire from the start, I feel he cost the Bears three games his first season here with bonehead in-game decisions and clock management. But to me it is amazing how much heat he is getting in comparison to Pace. This is still not a good roster and he's been here three years. He is the one who decided to go with Cutler for two years and not bring in a qb until this season. He has been TERRIBLE in the free agent market. His first draft was almost a complete turd. That's really the only draft we can make definitive comments on right now, other than he apparently loves to draft projects. To me he has not been impressive.
I don't know that you can grade his last two drafts yet, other than to say that Jordan Howard was a great pick. Into season three after his first draft, I think you can make some judgments about that. I was personally against the White pick when it happened. My feeling is that if you pick a receiver that high he needs to be an all-pro caliber wideout. He had really only performed for one year of college ball, and some thought he was hurt already and stayed away from him. I thought it was too much of a risky pick. He obviously doesn't have the body to sustain the wear and tear of the NFL. And one thing people never talk about, he did not excel in practice or in games when he was healthy. After that you have Goldman who looks like an average to above average D-lineman, and Amos, who finally looked good early this year but has slumped since. Apparently Grasu cant play. The other two players drafted are no longer on the roster.Pace’s tenure has been a mixed bag.
Except for getting unlucky with Kevin White’s injuries, Pace’s drafts have been quite good. His biggest free agent signings, McPhee, Trevaithian and Freeman, have all had problems staying on the field. Predictably in McPhee’s case. Less so in the other two. Pace gets bonus points for acquiring Akiem Spence off the scrap heap. He gets major demerits for the Glennon signing (he could have spent $10M less and got Case Keenum) and the way he’s handled the WR position.
As always with the Bears, there are chain of command questions about who’s really running the show. Some in the Chicago media question whether Fox was a Pace hire or if Fox was an Earnie Accorsi hire. There are also questions regarding some personal decisions coming from above Pace’s head. The whole handling of Alshon Jeffrey’s contract for example.

The Bears offense is a complete joke. I'd like to think this is valuable learning experience for Trubisky but he really doesn't do anything. He's very slow to make a decision and he's so risk averse he doesn't even take shots downfield when the defense is offside. He looks confused to me. Not good.
That was fitting. 49ers beat Bears, Gould scores all their points.:smash:

Also, if Fox is still the coach when I go to the game in Cincy next week, I'll be surprised.
I like Robbie Gould, but he was expensive and getting ineffective. It was time to go.
Expensive I’ll give you. Ineffective? He’s 36 for 38 since leaving the Bears.
