Glad I am not Poles. Good luck. If I am him, I am not having 2 #1 picks and not ending up with a franchise QB. I don't think Fields is one. I am taking a shot at Caleb Williams. I think he could be Patrick Mahomes down the road and you get four years of a discounted rate on the rookie contract. You trade Fields and hopefully get a 3rd round pick. You get a pass rusher at pick 8, 9, or 10 (wherever they end up) and then have to find a QB to fill the gap for year one if you aren't going to start Williams. My two cents. Probably not right but my thoughts.

Two best options in no specific order:

Option 1:
- Trade back from #1 to approximately #4 (Washington) or #6 (Las Vegas).
- Get a 2024 second rounder, a 2025 first rounder (critical), and maybe some other picks in 2025 or 2026. If they want to target a player on either team (like they did with Moore), go for it. Crosby on LV?
- Pick the best WR on the board at 4/6, likely LSU Nabers. Then pick best DE at Bears own 1st pick, likely around #10.
- Use the new 2nd rounder to pick a Center; Patrick and Whitehair are both pretty awful.
- *BIG POINT* Ensuring you have either WAS or LV's 1st rounder next year means you could potentially snag a QB next year if Fields *still* doesn't pan out. Both of these teams could still be pretty bad next year, especially WAS with a rookie QB.
- Why this option wouldn't happen: (1) The QB class next year is notably weaker than this year. (2) Poles is ready to move on; he doesn't want to tie his job status to a QB he didn't draft. His seat is likely already getting warm. (3) They fire the coaching staff this offseason, including OC, and they want to start fresh with a new QB.

Option 2:
- Trade Fields for a 2024 second round pick; per the recent Yahoo Sports article, which is pretty well done, there could be a few teams interested at this price point.
- Draft Caleb Williams at #1. Draft the best DE at #10 (projected Bears 1st round pick).
- Use the pick you get from Fields to pick a Center.
- Why this option wouldn't happen: (1) There are still a lot of question marks around Williams, and the Bears are more comfortable with addressing/coaching Fields' gaps, who they already know. (2) Poles values additional draft picks since this team still has a lot of weaknesses (DB, DE, OL, WR). (3) No one is willing to give up what the Bears want in a trade for Justin Fields.

Crazy Option 3 (BONUS):
- Sign Kirk Cousins
- Trade Justin Fields for a 2024 2nd/3rd round pick.
- Draft Marvin Harrison, Jr. at #1. Draft the Best DE at #10. Draft the best Center in 2nd/3rd.
- Win the division next year.

I like this list. I think the biggest factor will be whether they change coaches, and what system that would bring in (I think Getsy at a minimum will be gone unless they win out). I do agree that #1 will improve the team the most, and give them more flexibility in the long term.

For option 2, while I fully agree that a good center needs to be added, I'd prefer they do that via trade or free agency. A rookie QB needs to be paired with a veteran center. If they keep Fields, then definitely get a center in Round 2 or 3.

I actually like the concept of Option 3. The Bears have proven for decades that they are wholly incapable of developing a QB. No Bears QB has ever passed for 4000 yards in a season (!), and the only QBs to pass for 3500 yards (Kramer and Cutler) were veterans that somebody else developed. Grab a solid veteran, put a good team around him, and see where it gets you!

I like Kirk Cousins. He actually grew up from as an infant to a young teen in Chicago .

Admittedly I'm gradually detaching myself as a Bears fan, but would be tempted to stay along for the ride with a Caleb Williams pick, Eberflus fire, and Brian Johnson (Eagles OC) HC hire.

You're staying with the Bears...don't even play...lol
I'll play, haha.

The Bears haven't proven anything in my 33 years of life, leaving my sole reason to pay attention to the NFL being fantasy football for connection with friends, and I live in a city with a franchise equally as bad, but has local fans to cheer with.

Would love a reason to stick around, but have been drifting away since the Cubs won the World Series. It's just not that important to me, and I don't have the nostalgia that fans who saw the 1985 team have, nor the passion for football as a sport in general.

Knew it would be tough sledding for the Bears offense today, but they have really struggled. Tonyan dropping the touchdown bomb didn’t help.

It's been about as much of a defensive struggle as I would have expected. Kinda figured that Flacco would sort of have a bit of a regression based on the defenses he had played the previous two games.

Fields still not showing me he has what it takes to be a successful starter in the league

I can't see the game where I'm at, but is Flacco just looking awful or is the Bears D that good?
