Friends of the Park did put out a lengthy statement in response to the news about the Bears wanting to build a new stadium on the lakefront. One suggestion they made for where the new stadium could be put would be on the site of the former Michael Reese hospital.
Friends of the Parks lost me with their opposition to the Lucas Museum. The Michael Reese site is even harder to get to via transit and more isolated than Soldier Field. Many of the advantages of being in the City are lost with that site. It is going to be really hard to argue about park space preservation after what the City allowed to occur with the Obama Library by taking a large swath of actual park space instead of just a parking lot like the Bears want.

Really happy with moves so far this offseason. Of course, the big one is still to come. But certainly giving the QB weapons to work with and have added depth to OL (see they added third one yesterday). Have done less on D, but Byard is an upgrade over Eddie Jackson.

How does the Keenan Allen trade affect what they do with the #9 pick? EDGE seems like the bigger need now, but picking up a Nabers or Odunze would truly put them in the top tier for WR/TE rooms. Or do they trade back? It will be interesting to see what Poles does there.

I was thinking the same thing today. I saw they were going to interview a Minn edge (can’t remember his name but not the guy who already signed). This guy was OLB in their 3-4 system, but has some experience with hand in the dirt. If they get him, certainly looks like it could be a best player available or trade down scenario.

The trade left the Bears with a total of 4 picks (#1, #9, a 3rd and a 4th), so I would expect them to trade back and get more Day 2 picks. Still need to fill the voids at center, WR3 and probably a three-tech to succeed Justin Jones, so having three picks after the presumed Caleb selection makes it much harder. If they do grab an edge rusher in the coming weeks, then I would assume they trade back unless they absolutely fall in love w/ Nabers or Odunze.

They may have to move up from 9 if they want one of those guys. Arz (#4), SD (#5), and NYG (#6) will likely look very hard at WRs. They can either take the best player available (Likely to strengthen one of the lines), or trade back for day 2/3 picks.

Bears trade Fields to Steelers for a bag of balls & a jockstrap
Too much inconsistency. Nobody willing to give up much to roll the dice on an unproven QB at the end of his rookie deal.
Let’s just hope they get the right guy in the draft!

With all the moves the other teams have made... there was no place else left to go but Pittsburgh. Hope it works out for him. He seems like an OK guy but just not the level of QB to get to the top with.

And Pittsburgh isn't very far from Columbus so he should feel at home over there. And they have a decent football operation.
