Just woke up everyone in a 6 room radius from my hotel here in Riverside. Monster slam.

These Cubs have made it interesting. Montero! Goes to show you truly never know who will deliver in the postseason. Everyone on the roster matters.

Throw the stats out in the postseason! Montero just helped prove it is about the random productivity than the studliness of individual players.

I've watched the Montero replay 100+ times. https://streamable.com/4sqc

My favorite snapshot of the night: The vicarious bat flip from Fowler.

I don't know what Joe can do but Rizzo, Zobrist, and Russell need to be broken up.
No they dont. I do think Soler needs to be starting over Heyward against lefties, but right now there isn't much else I would change. Rizzo/Zobs/Russell are horses they have ridden all season, now isn't the time to try and get cute because of a sample size of 20 at bats.

Kershaw did Kershaw and Hendricks did Hendricks. Not surprised there. 2 innings to go, gotta find a way to square this game up.

Heck of a game. We just came out on the wrong side of tight game.

Yep, tough to beat Kershaw and Jensen when they are on their game. Arrieta will work to take the series lead back on Tuesday.

Had to love Javy's heads up play on the soft liner. What a postseason he's had.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Rizzo and Russell are going to need to get back on track. I agree with Serious Late that messing with the batting order isn't the way to do that. Maybe they have a pajama or silly suits themed road trip to LA.

Bleh. Kershaw is a stud. And Jansen is a stud.

The good news is we don't have to beat them as long as we can bash around the other pitchers.

I think we'll see Kershaw again on three days rest in game 5. They'll then use him in relief if needed in games 6 and 7. I have to believe the wear will eventually catch up to him. He's pitched 19.1 innings in 4 appearances over the last 10 days.

I think he was already showing signs of cracking in the 7th. The Zobrist at bat after the Wild Rizzo walk was awful. If I were Zobrist I would have forced him to throw me a strike and let him self destruct. I can't believe he swung at that first pitch ball.

But yeah, if they keep leaning on him he is going to be gassed and they won't be able to use him as much in the WS. (if they beat us...which I don't think they will)

100% agree. Collectively their approaches to Kershaw were poor the entire night. Anyone recall the Contreras at-bat where he stood there like a pitcher with his bat on his shoulder while Kershaw grooved a fastball down the plate?

Arrieta vs. Hill tomorrow night.

Kershaw and Jansen have combined for 44% of the Dodgers' outs this postseason.

Watching these playoffs it becomes very clear why the Cubs were completely unwilling to give up Schwarber in a deadline deal. Another big bat would be a huge plus.

The key will be for the Cubs to win the non-Kershaw starts. If the Cubs are up 3-1 I'm sure they will see Kershaw in Game 5, if not I think he waits until Game 6. Man, some of these guys need to start hitting. Rizzo has just been horrible, Russell has been bad since mid-September. I'm sure Soler will start in right field with Hill pitching for the Dodgers tomorrow.

He's young so hopefully the big stage gets to him a bit. I wouldn't be all that worried about him but we haven't done well against lefties right?

Cubs were actually the second best team in the NL versus left-handed pitching this year. The Dodgers just have a lot of them, both pitchers and hitters.

Really looking forward to seeing Arrieta pitch tonight.
