I've been trying to figure out the Cubs emergency catcher on their active roster. Any guesses or suggestions?

After seeing Baez for a few games, I totally see how he's missed time each of the last two year due to head-first slides. Guy just basically belly-flops onto the base. It's really ugly.

That said, I'm starting to think the Cubs best lineup - taking both offense and defense into account - may be with Javy at third and Bryant in left.

They are currently on a pace to win 120 games. :) And their hitting can still improve.

I like this team.

Stephen A. Smith is making headlines by insinuating that Arrieta is juicing. What a complete tool. :tsk:

I honestly was wondering when people were going to start accusing him of juicing. I knew it was only a matter of time. Not that I personally think he is or anything. But when a player becomes so dominant so fast, speculation arises.

Yeah - but the funny thing is that, since coming to Chicago, he's actually throwing his fastball slower than he was in Baltimore. His dominance has been due to his increased command. I don't think PEDs help with command. Some people will say just about anything to attempt to appear relevant.

Right. His physique and durability has never been a concern. He's always been a freak. His fastball speed has actually declined. It's all been about greater command via a change in delivery. The change is obvious to anyone who looks.

It's just like when Batista changed his batting swing with the Jays. He essentially became a different player.

Bryant taken out of the game now. Has the Illini basketball injury bug made it's way to the north side?

Bummer that Jake was removed. His consecutive quality start streak comes to an end at 24. He was only 2 away from tying the record.

I have no issue with that pull. Save those innings for the fall.

11 more walks today, plus 2 HBP's. No easy outs in that lineup.

I heard Bryant rolled his ankle but wasn't too serious. It could be from the same sources that said Illinois basketball was going to get Evans or Thomas or Cliff, so take with grain of salt.

What a great win today!

Lester with a gutsy performance, getting out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the 7th.

Rizzo's game winning RBI single was overshadowed by the grand slam by Sczcur!

I love this team.
