No Kluber tomorrow. And, while Miller may pitch, he sure as Hell won't be allowed to throw 46 pitches again. Look for an inning at most.

I remain optimistic.

The inconsistent strike zone last night (especially early) was a travesty. These umpires are supposed to be the best of the best. :tsk:

Some positives I saw:

While we didn't get any runs, we had guys on base and guys getting hits. It wasn't the same anemic offense that plagued us in the first 3 games of the NLCS.

Once our 1-3 guys get going we will be good. Plus, our batters seem to get better the 2nd time we see a guy.

Let's win tonight, go up 2-1 at home and then face Kluber again and do what we did to Kershaw his 2nd time around.

It wasn't great but I didn't think it was terrible either. I mean the stuff off the plate were a couple inches, not 6-8.

No - the issue is that the ump was inconsistent. The pitches Kluber was getting were not being called the same for Lester (he and Ross voiced their displeasure). Even the same pitches from Kluber weren't consistently called the same. Batters need to be able to know that, if the ball is thrown in X spot, it will be called Y.

You're absolutely right. Kluber got the calls all night. Lester only got one or two cause I remember thinking that was a miracle. Even the commentators were saying they weren't strikes but that he kept hitting the same spots and the umo kept giving him the strike call.

I am not a die hard Cubs fan. The home plate umpire was jacked up on some Kluber the first 4 innings. Absolutely dictated the game showing the Cubs players they had to cover the curve whether the ball was going to come back over the plate or not, high or low. Terrible.

2. Bryant, 3B
3. Rizzo, 1B
4. Zobrist, LF
5. Schwarber, DH
6. Baez, 2B
7. Contreras, C
8. Soler, RF
9. Russell, SS

agree

it really set the tone and you could see Maddon shaking his head in disbelief. I'm not saying it cost us the game, but Kluber was given the benefit of the doubt time and time again, and Lester was not.

Its called home cooking, and why it usually pays to have home field advantage. It exists in every sport and umpires and referees subconsciously participate. I have seen my teams get it at home as well (see Cubs V Dodgers last Sat )

Going way back in the history books for this one, but the last time the Cubs came back from a 1 game deficit to win a playoff series was October 22nd, 2016.

I was confused at first as I read "game 1 deficit" and not "1 game deficit". Haha but I'm tracking with you now. :thumb:

If we can tie it up and then take the lead in Wrigley it will really put the pressure on the tribe as they haven't had any high pressure must win games yet this post season. Especially on the road.

Using an app called Audio Hijack to sync the online radio stream with TV. Weirdly, the TV feed is about 7 seconds behind the web radio--I guess they must have a delay on the TV for cutting out vulgar language and such? Anyway, having Pat and Ron call the game in sync with TV is great!

I don't blame them. Rizzo let loose a massive F-bomb last night, uncensored. Buck and Smoltz were silent for a solid 4-5 seconds wondering how to proceed.

Series tied! Let's run off 3 wins and end this thing at Wrigley!
