September might be a stressful month.

Down to a 1 game lead over Milwaukee.

Cubs just seem like they are out of gas and limping to the finish line.

Everyone else has had some sort of a “get hot” streak it seems. Hopefully we have one and ours takes us right into the playoffs.

They won 7ish in a row less than a month ago. Regardless of who those wins came against(cant recall, but think they were good teams), thats a hot streak.

Cards have been hot since the break. They deserve to make the playoffs. Brewers probably deserve it too, but I still dont get how they are a good team.

A few takeaways from tonight's game:
  • Eloy Jimenez Jose Quintana dealt just what the doctor ordered tonight. Two hits over 6 & 2/3 shutout innings. He owns Milwaukee.
  • Picking Q up in the 7th was Justin Wilson in perhaps the most impressive batter-faced I think I've seen from him during his Cubs tenure.
  • How about Caratini with the bat tonight?
  • Murphy is quite the liability on defense at 2B playing on his heels the way he does.
  • Russell with one of the best defensive plays for the Cubs this season. Against Braun no less. Pure schadenfreude.
  • Hendricks on the bump tomorrow in the rubber match.
  • I don't think Thursday's makeup game in D.C. gets played (hurricane).

Great win tonight to get some breathing room. Win tomorrow and the magic number for the division is 14 with 18 games left.
They better postpone the game on Thursday before the team leaves. It is ridiculous that they are even contemplating playing the game through a hurricane.

If the Cubs even board a plane to DC to play Thursday, the MLB is clearly showing they are entirely incompetent with rescheduling games.

They pretty much have too, right? They can't save that game for after the season, that's a potential scheduling nightmare that throws the whole post season schedule off if it's necessary to be played. The hurricane rains won't be in DC tomorrow, they should have no problem getting the game in.

They also have to be able to get back to Chicago after the game. DC is only supposed to get about a quarter of an inch of rain tomorrow, but with hurricane conditions looming, things might shut down quicker than normal. It would really screw things up if they got stuck in DC.

There's a state of emergency declared for DC. I don't think there should be a need for more reason to not have them go. It's a baseball game, not a world changing event. I think there's time to squeeze it in at the end of the reg season. If not, move the game to chicago. Sucks for the nats, but they aren't in post season contention so I dont see the harm (though I could see the advantage chicago gains for having an extra home game, but extenuating circumstances.)

They should have rescheduled today's game to 1 pm and planned to play tomorrow at Noon eastern, and then rescheduled Friday's day game to 7 pm.

If they really wanted to get things in and not completely kill the Cubs while doing it.

The Cubs early and late season schedules have been down-right abusive. If I were Tom Ricketts, I'd be throwing a complete s***-fit. (He very well might be behind closed doors.)

Many universities in Virginia are closing tomorrow at noon with the exception of emergency staff only. I'll be shocked if the Cubs play in DC tomorrow.

The way things have gone for the Cubs this year, they'll still be required to fly to DC, then have the game cancelled before they leave the airport, then be trapped in the airport for 24 hours before they can fly back to Chicago, rolling into Wrigley about 45 minutes before the start of the series against the Reds. Then some jackass in the national media will wonder why the Cubs' bats look so lifeless.

Another poor outing by the 'pen drops the lead to 1 game. We have a pennant race, ladies and gentlemen.

As much as I'd prefer the Cubs to be up 10 games in their division lead, I just love the excitement of the Cubs in the midst of a pennant race in the fall.

Go Cubs go!

Kintzler needs to stop being trotted out there, especially in situations like last night. Over 7 ERA since joining the northsiders. Give one of the young guys a shot to show they deserve to be on the post seasons roster.

Very happy the weather has [so far] held out for the game to be played.

2-1 Cubs thus far, with Montgomery standing firm.

Keep it up!

Rosario closes it out...

...but Strop leaves with an injury running out a grounder in extras.

Boooooooooooooooy... was that ever a questionable decision in the 10th by Maddon. We can always arm chair quarterback decisions, but I was pretty disappointed to see Strop go up to the plate with one out, the bases loaded and over an inning pitched already under his belt.
