Chicago Cubs 2018 Season

They survive another day. At least we know that they will be in the playoffs one way or another.

This weekend's probable pitchers for the final series of the season at Wrigley:

Friday: Wainwright (2-3, 4.08) vs. Hendricks (13-11, 3.49)
Saturday: Mikolas (17-4, 2.94) vs. Hamels (9-11, 3.87)
Sunday: Flaherty (8-8, 3.16) vs. Montgomery (5-6, 3.99)

I hate to say it but I think the Brewers will win the Central.

I hope they play like crap and drop 2 out of the next 3 but I think they’ll sweep Detroit.

The Tigers are playing just under .500 ball in September. I think they'll win 1 of the 3. Which means the Cubs need 1 win against the Cards to force the tiebreaker game and 2 of 3 to win the division.

I hope we can take 2 of 3 but the Cards are backed into a corner and the only way to make the playoffs is to win tonight then HOPE the giants beat the dodgers.

Detroit doesn’t seem to have as much to motivate them. Let’s just hope they like beating the Brewers. Is there a rivalry there maybe?? :D

The paranoia and negativity of the 108 years prior to 2016 is really creeping into this message board the last week or so, eh?

Not for me, I just figured the Brewers had the easier chance at 3 wins than we did. Today’s win tips the odds in our favor though!

Master class from the Professor this afternoon. I love watching Hendricks when he’s on.

The Cardinals’ infield defense is really atrocious.

Ozuna apparently has linguine for an arm. Cubs should be running on him every chance they get.

Heck of a start by Kyle; limited the damaged and made the key pitches when he needed to. It's a good problem when 3 pitchers could start a game 1.

Mr Hamels, your turn!

Cubs have faced good pitching in the playoffs the past three years (as have all the other playoff teams) and have done better than any other team in baseball over that period. They might get shut out every game in the playoffs or they might get hot at the right time and win it all. Who knows? That’s what makes playoff baseball so great. Just gotta get there and anything can happen. I have as much confidence in them as I had in 2016 or 2017. They aren’t the best team in the NL (or second best) by luck.

I'm confused about the bullpen usage. I would have thought we'd have seen Alec Mills. We need strike throwers, and he seems like a pretty solid option. Since he's on the 40-man roster, I'm not sure why he's not being used.

Gotta handed it to Mikolas. He pitched a good one. Wind blowing in may have taken some runs away, as the Cubs hit the ball hard.

Win tomorrow, and go Tigers!

*hand it

Tigers off to a good start! For the sake of discussion, when was the last time the Cubs and their playoff fate was to be determined on the last day of the season?

And now we are tied. I still think the Brewers will clinch the top spot of the central. They just seem to be playing really well right now. (And also Yelich)

Let’s win tomorrow and put all the pressure on em!
