In one game Contreras raised his OPS from .733 to .831.
Man, I can't believe the Sox have won nine games. That is one horrible team that plays sloppy ball.
I watched this one live with an avid Braves fan. He was super pissed about the out call at home plate that was probably safe. Actually not sure why it didn’t get overturned...
Anyway, it was good to see us rally in the 9th and then close one out.
5th inning, passed ball. Contreras made a great throw to Montgomery to make the play at home close, but he looked safe to me as well.
The Cubs probably stole that game. I don’t feel even a little bit bad about it.

They reviewed that one but didn’t overturn it. Probably because there was insufficient video evidence to overturn. The Braves then didn’t have a challenge left to review the play at third.

Since leaving CBS Sports, it seems Jon Heyman is in the clickbait business. His latest ties the Cubs to making a trade for Manny Machado at the deadline.

I like Machado a great deal (he's a superstar, after all), but he's free agent at the end of the year. Talks would have to start with Russell, and include names like Happ and Alzolay. I just don't see it.
Can teams work out extensions as part of the trade?

This is far from click-bait and has been rumored for quite awhile. Buster Olney, who is as connected as anyone, spoke about Baltimore trading Machado yesterday. His odds were on the Cubs eventually being the trading partner.
That said, I'm hesitant that the Cubs will make a move for Machado, considering the cost it will likely require. He is is on record wanting to test the free agency waters, and given Theo's track record, (Chapman and Davis notwithstanding), there seems to be a preference for players with years of control versus rentals.
And for those saying the Cubs should just sign a long term extension before hand...
When was the last time that's been done? Has it ever been done in the history of baseball?
Where does Schwarber go?
Where does Schwarber go?
Schwarber stays where he is. Bryant goes to right. Heyward grabs pine.
