There’s no place for him to play in the infield with all the no trade contracts with Bregman,Swanson, Hoerner way too go hoyer

Having a no trade clause doesn't mean that they can't be traded. It just means that the player would have to approve the trade.

So of course that is who you look to for pitching help.

As it happens, I actually saw the first two plus innings of Peterson’s last start. He did not look good. He has had some stretches of success in the past. Hopefully Cubs can get him back to that point.

He’s a warm body. They’re looking for 5 innings a start, not perfection at this point.

I’m sure they’ll try to make a higher quality addition to the starting staff closer to the deadline. Assuming they’re still in the playoff chase.

I know you’re joking, but despite the 7-22 month, the Cubs are in the second wildcard spot.

The plan looks to be to limp along with Imanega, Assad, Rea, Boyd and Peterson as starters while using the Des Moines shuttle to keep the bullpen stocked with fresh AAAA arms.

Try to win as many 6-5 games as possible until the trade deadline when you start getting Brown, Taillon, Cabrera and hopefully a trade acquisition back in the rotation. Hopefully Palencia, Steele and another trade acquisition can shore up the pen.

But for this strategy to work, the offense needs to be the one from April and the last couple weeks and not the disaster we saw in between.

As long as they don't mortgage the future to get the last wild card spot.
