If there is a positive to Beelzebub possibly migrating to Indiana…it would be the very real possibility that Bloomington ends up doing what it does to the profession. I hope it eats him him up and spits him out…

(& he ends up destitute or a cheap haberdasher in Beirut)

The place is like a giant woodchipper for coaches…with any luck he would go the way of: Davis, Dakich, Sampson, Crean, Archie Miller, and now maybe Woodson.

ALSO…for all Indiana U’s self-proclaimed awesomeness…have you ever looked at the coaches records that are not named: Branch McCracken & Bobby Knight?
(I thought Everett Dean was a bigger deal.)

Anywho….It ain’t all that…

Although I agree most coaches have fallen on hard times after taking a crack at Indiana, Sampson appears to have landed on his feet ok. I’ve got to imagine there would be some real vitriol seeing pearl regularly in season. The hatred Iowa is shown may take a backseat if that POS was back to the B1G. Unfortunate his BS would be unlikely to weigh Indiana down with sanctions as the NCAA is obsolete.

why in the world would Indiana hire a 64 year old coach? Not gonna happen. I'd take Dane Fife over a 64 yo. I'd take Chris Beard over anyone. I'd try Scott Drew, and would probably take Lamont Paris over Pearl. Just not that interested in a guy that I may be looking at 5 years or so only.

A good 64 year old coach (no comment on those being mentioned), can right a program in 3-4 years and have it ready for the long term hire.

Game already is spiced up.

Last thing I want to see is Bruce Pearl ever step foot in the real Assembly Hall.

Iowa didn't even have make the trip to Champaign in the middle of the Deon Thomas saga if memory serves. They knew better.
IDK if it happened, it could be rather entertaining. The heck with chicken wings, Illinois fans would be lobbing turkey legs.
Seriously, not sure even Indiana would want to troll Illinois that much to hire Pearl.

There’s a part of me, that agrees with you.
I get that you’re being facetious, no doubt.

But it doesn’t have anything to do with Indiana trolling/not trolling Illinois. We don’t exist on their radar. They’re so far above us in their own minds it is not even funny.
( They’ve blown smoke up their own rears for decades.)

What they have is an identity crisis. They really really kind of do. Their fans are like waring Scottish clans. Old vs Young…Even though cheating is legal now…the aging, old timer Indiana fan still suffers from
Bob Knight damage. Their personal Lord and Savior told them for years “he was squeaky clean and graduated people…”
(Then the N. Reed incident and the fall of the Reichstag…and that had a different kind of disgrace) This an abomination to younger IU fans that are down.
Enter Sampson…he gets his haircut and his wings clipped with violations. This is abhorrent to older fans that were on top of it. Ever since then it’s been Reconstruction after the Civil War. Indiana is a mess…

Probably, they collectively think they are better than Pearl, anyway. In 2-3 years, if these Todd Licklitter attendance numbers continue…it’ll be Iowa that trolls us…that’s just their game. (66 yrs old or not)

Objectively speaking, which obviously is hard here, Bruce Pearl would be the best coach Indiana has had since Bobby Knight.

The hatred is real from us, but the results are real from him too, no matter how he achieved them.
