I think we can ...

But if it meant naming Tyler HC in waiting would you do it ?? (just a hypothetical ... I am not saying Brad would demand that) ...
This is a difficult and problematic question, and that is exactly why the best practice is to not allow the situation to develop in the first place.

It's common in college sports, it isn't just us. But if I were running the DIA there would be a simple, clean, no-exceptions anti nepotism policy.

I don't think BU is who Kentucky would target but if they do in Josh I trust. Id thank BU, wish him the best and trust Josh. I hope BU stays but its nice to have an AD I am confident can and would find a quality replacement to keep moving forward. I'm not worried about it.

Absolutely. I've done so even when I didn't have to move.

I learned long ago that after a certain level of income, working in a good environment with people you like matters more than anything else. Which would you rather have:
1) A jobs that pays you significantly more than you need, in a good environment, and with a good working relationship with your boss, or
2) A job that pays 25% more and comes with a significantly more stress. Some of the key players are real *&^*&. You are always on hot coals and the axe can come at any time.
(This isn't an exact UI/KY analogy, just the general idea.)

I'm taking the first one every time. I've done the latter. It wasn't worth it.
I'm relearning this lesson as we speak.

I've continued to think about that from our convo ... And the name that keeps coming to mind ...

College Basketball No GIF by NCAA March Madness
Would he scrap his coach in waiting status for his son to jump to UK? I mean I think Pearl is a better option than Drew or Donovan. Might be better option than Wade or Oats.

Curious, what makes Brad built for UK?
Same question. Last year, some wanted him on the hot seat here. One year and an Elite 8 later.....he's built for bringing back the glory days? We're hoping for back to back Sweet 16's here. If that happens there....he's either retiring or scurrying to find a high major program to immediately jump into.

That's just my thought process, but I'm biased and can't comprehend the type of money that's being tossed around.

What has he done the in the tournament ? 2 sweet 16s and a first round exit when he's had a top 10 team every year ? Not good enough ...

And most schools don't want to mess around with getting all those foreign kids into school and then finding ways around getting them NIL ... It's a total pain in the 🍑 ...
Todd Golden hasn't done anything yet except he is younger and has better look. But I agree with you. I am not super impressed by Lloyd's team this year and so far Brad is better than him.

I don’t care what is “normal” or accepted elsewhere, nepotism is below Illinois. There should be more integrity, this isn’t Oklahoma State.

Also kills it in the portal and puts together great staffs.

And has he missed on an in state kid that we just had to have ? You could argue Liddell maybe ... Other than that ?

He got Ayo, Ace, Morez ... We had Jeremy Fears and chose to pass ... We're getting Jeremiah ...

When is the last time IU (who considers themselves a blue blood) did that ... Shoot Arch got Romeo but outside of him when is the last time they even got the best player in their state to stay home ???

What Brad has done in state is pretty remarkable ...

Apples to apples, Brad’s record isn’t any better. While it’s only been floated as a hypothetical, if he actually demands any guarantee for Tyler (from ball boy to coaching), I’d honestly rather see both of them exit to get a leader with more integrity.

I don't think he's high on their list, but he played for them in the mid-90's, he was built by them. If he has an edge, it would make sense for him to identity that edge while he's in Provo.
Kinda reminds me a bit of when Mark Richt took over at Miami. He's an alum, he was there at the dawn of the dynasty, they released a picture the day they hired him of the QB's at a Miami practice and it was Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinny Testaverde, and Richt.

But they could talk about that connection until they were blue in the face, ole Ned Flanders Richt ain't The U.

Also kills it in the portal and puts together great staffs.
UK's donor community will definitely like BU's portal prowess as they believe that's a direction they need to pursue more aggressively. But because they look at the OA and Chin additions as a big failure, they will have (undue) skepticism of BU's ability to put together good staffs there.

BU would crush it there, but I don't see it happening.

Exactly and we are running out of coach candidates with final four appearance (unless you want Kevin Keatts or Bruce Pearl but Bruce is probably too old.)

Let’s all just settle on the best truth here:

Brad IS qualified and “built” for the UK job. And he still prefers the Illini job. 😎
If Brad is offered the Kentucky job, he will take it. Every non blue-blood college coach would. It’s one of the top 5 programs in the country on every level. It’s delusional to think otherwise. That said, I don’t think he’ll get the offer.

A few names I haven't heard that seem worth exploring...

Tony Bennett
Chris Beard
Chris Collins
TJ Otzelberger
Mark Few
Grant McCasland
Buzz Williams

I don’t think he’s qualified for what Kentucky wants. Kentucky wanted to get rid of Cal for lack of post season success. Their fanbase would not find Underwood desirable in the least. Most likely they’d look at him as another Billy Gillespie and not give him a chance.

I would be shocked if Kentucky doesn’t hire a coach with at least FF or multi FFs on their resume. It’s too good of job not too. Cal is washed, fans have soured on him. Their alumni donors want a rock star.

Rock Stars are Billy D, Jay Wright, and Nate Oats, Chris Beard. But I think it’s really only Billy or Jay as to who they want

Cal announcement still hasn’t come lmao there is definitely some f**kery going on down there.

The longer this drags the more confident I am Brad stays
