I beg to differ as many posters are “questioning” it.Brad will be our coach 110% next year and it’s not even a question

The bright side of Brad having a bad year is that he hurt his value more than anything. I’m sure he’ll adjust but the aggravating part is that he’s too reliant of those that surround him. Instead of throwing glares at Hamer, why not take control and adjust using your own instincts as head coach?its not real. Brad was close to taking the job during the cycle when they hired Shaka, so anytime that job opens up his agents try to squeeze us for more. Brad isn't going anywhere. Texas definitely wont want to pay $16m for a 61 year old coach, especially after this year he is having. Brad is staying.
Yes. This has been spoken about in interviews and such over the past couple years.Underwood's teams at Illinois have always had high turnover. Does Underwood's background as a JC coach, where roster turnover is high every year, contribute to his comfort with high roster churn?
We hearing anything about yaklich coming to join us next year? @Indy Illini Fan
All I know for sure is Brad Underwood has lost a lot of the fans. Winning cures all but illinois can't seem to win without coaching.
Brad will be our coach 110% next year and it’s not even a question
Brad SHOULD be our coach 110% next year and it shouldn’t even be a question…..
It's just absolutely striking how quickly we went from the rise to Final four contender in December to trending in a direction that could cause us to miss the tournament in a little over a month. Absolutely astounding. That's not something that can be blamed solely on illness, but it also feels like a stretch to say it's purely on BU, either. After all, it's still the same players, staff, and approach that were absolutely blitzing high-level teams two months ago and drawing comparison to the '89 team. Recall, that actually was still this same season. He’s lost his team … He’s lost most of the fans … He’s lost some of the big donors … And will lose the rest if he refuses to make staff changes …

The more I think about it, the less I understand just what the heck is happening with our team and program. It defies all logic.
I get Tech has some oil money donors, but in what world would it be easier to make a Final Four at Texas Tech compared to Illinois?
It's serious underperforming. It's just absolutely striking how quickly we went from the rise to Final four contender in December to trending in a direction that could cause us to miss the tournament in a little over a month. FIFY, as the Illini could still somehow make tourney if they lose out (bubble is that bad this year). If we lose in first round of NCAAT and Brad refuses to make staff changes …
Brad SHOULD be fired …
I think that the broader contours of Brad's coaching and its weaknesses are understood at this point. If TJ wasn’t granted that TRO and never played again last year …
This whole board would be calling for Brad to be fired …
Because TJ carried last year … No getting around it … And every other team Brad has had … He’s underachieved with …

So, to me, if Brad is going to succeed at the level he and we want, he needs a staff change and it needs to include personnel who are capable of understanding the contours of a game in real time and adjusting. Otherwise, I don't see him getting us to the Promised Land.
- His staff are really good at recruiting (for the most part) and building a new approach based on the their new personnel and stengths (as they see them) each year.
- They're hit or miss on season-long changes to their approach. This is where the illness issue could legitimately be an issue in my mind since that would impact the ability to have a stable lineup for implementing changes.
- They are absolutely abysmal at in-game adjustments and changes. And this is the he one that costs us in big games against well-coached teams.
Truer words have never been spoken. And every other team Brad has had … He’s underachieved with …
Nepotism is the fall of many good men.Bingo … We need 3 new assistants …
My problem is that Brad doesn’t see anything wrong with the coaching right now !!!! I have ZERO confidence in his ability to listen to other coaches … He thinks Tyler is some sort of genius and Hamer is a defensive guru when he suggests we dork 50+% 3 point shooters …
He’s sort of like Muss … Constant staff turnover and people who really would prefer to not work for him …
And Whitman is aware of this if true?Based on what I’m reading in this thread, there are discussions between brad/his agent and Texas
Truer words have never been spoken.
Who is generating a better ROI on NIL...Underwood or Bielema? It is not even remotely close.
With Underwood on the bench, we spot everyone we play a 10-point lead. He generally can overcome that due to a huge talent advantage...but not this year.
I would almost rather see Weber get the most out of marginal talent than Underwood waste the talent he buys.
Has there ever been an NCAA coach with TWO Round 1 NBA players who failed to make the tourney?
