Ah yes… the Guenther Method
Yeah, with respect.
It seems to me…unlike Guenther…Whitman has already bent over backwards to give Brad EVERYTHING he could possibly want. Josh isn’t Stretch Armstrong. There are $ome limit$ right?

Brad has been A-MAZE-ING! (in best Giorgi voice) at putting us back on the map…and he might not be done yet. But if it ever becomes non-sustainable with Underwood we MIGHT (and it’s a big might) be able to find another Underwood. But there’s only one Bill Self. We weren’t gonna get another Self.

Because Self is Self, that’s really why Guenther being so obtuse at the time is SO frustrating. (That is…assuming the the legend of Self staying for the right price was even truly a possibility.)

Lol I'm sorry, but absolutely no way any coach with a brain leaves Illinois for Texas Tech. If I was a betting man, odds are in the next round of conference alignment they go the way of Wazzu or Oregon State.

Don't care how much oil money they have (less than A&M and UT regardless), I have an extremely hard time believing that would ever be a possibility unless its like a Henson to New Mexico St. situation.

I’d be surprised if Self retires anytime soon. Dude can still coach and recruit in the NIL era. But that’s my opinion. He can coach there till he’s in a wheelchair and his toupee falls off. Such a cush job he has.
Self is 62,,,,,kinda young to jump.....

There could be a lot of openings next month. There's already some out there but if a few older guys at high level programs decide they've had enough it could get crazy.

yea, there are many older aged guys that don’t like what the games roster moving has eovolved into and will just move on to the country club life in Naples / Scottsdale

Now this is the most surprising thing I think I've seen you post.

I get UNC...but Texas Tech? Even Texas...over what he has now?

Who wants to drop 8 years of equity, winning tradition, etc to start over at one of those programs in your 60s?

A home-state Blue Blood or your Alma Mater make sense at that age but I just wouldn't wanna rock the boat when I've got money, backing, and a great AD.

When the NIL case was won and ushered in this new era of player pay, I imagine $elf saying the same thing Elvis's manager said after Elvis died.

"This changes nothing!"

Slightly … The relationships are there but they really trust Geoff …

Only jobs I could see Geoff getting are EIU or NIU …
I'm curious. Where did Geoff get all these Europe connections? Looking through his bio, I don't see any time spent playing or coaching overseas. It's interesting, because while we've had some foreign players come in (Giorgi!), most of that was before Geoff became a recruiting assistant. I hadn't heard anything about these connections until we got Tomi and Jakucionis this year.

He also got Zach Perrin and Nico Moretti. Obviously those two didn't become major players for us (Zach left soon after he got here but he got drafted last year), but I'm sure it helped establish some new connections.

Gah, wow, how could I forget the Zach Perrin era at Illinois?

If Geoff gets a headcoach job would Tyler consider a move with him. And no i am not one of those anti Tyler posters. He just needs to eventually branch out from BU.
Interesting question, I've wondered that as well

Didn't Geoff do some recruiting in Europe at previous schools. Been with Brad off and on since Western, but coached with others too.

Rick will be 71 this summer … He’s got an older team and hopes to make a deep run this March …

I know there was a little talk in the summer that this could be it for him … And his assistants are actively pursuing other jobs … I don’t think that’s a coincidence …
I still remember when he got Smash Williams to commit to TMU. What a pitch…I would’ve said yes too.
