Yes … But Sean will be active this cycle …

Miami … LSU is likely to open … Texas could have an opening and I think that search would come down to him & McCasland …
Sean Miller must have an elite agent because it’s going to be 2 years in a row with no tournament bid in a bad league. Plus, is Xavier not a great job? Odd to leave for a second time.

I’m also very surprised Greg McDermott wouldn’t get a look for Indiana or Kansas. Unless he wants to for sure retire at Creighton, he wins with less better than most.

Brad Stevens 10 years for 100 Million at Indiana?
Not only did he turn down a similar offer 4 years ago like @Illini 993 pointed out, but he specifically left coaching to get away from the day-to-day stress and be more active in the bigger-picture strategic end of things. I think the guy found his dream job and would be shocked if he went back to coaching, particularly in college.

I get IU is going to make Brad Stevens say no (and if I were IU's AD, I'd make him say no a couple of times), but he's going to say no. There is just no way he's going to leave what he has to return to this iteration of college basketball. If I had a beach house, I'd be awfully comfortable betting it on that last sentence.

So…everyone here at Loyalty has a beach house. Some of us have accumulated several more through the years. Some of them are in questionable condition. Some of them have been swept out to sea. Some of them are located in South Dakota.

Please see the admin if you have not received your introductory beach house yet.

Playing a little "what-if" here, but if the following jobs are open at the end of the season, how would you currently rank them? I've listed them in alphabetical order to eliminate any sort of initial bias. I have my own thoughts (#1 is likely going to be unanimous or close to it), but I'll share those later.

Indiana
Kansas
Miami
North Carolina
Tennessee
Texas

These seem like the positions that will really kick off the carousel if even two of the five that are not Indiana open since that would open three high-profile positions. If there are others I should add to this list, feel free. But I definitely would not add any positions like Iowa State (coach seems entrenched) or Arizona State (yes, Bobby's likely on a hot seat, but I don't think that one will really move the needle). I initially did not include Miami, but if they are at least reaching out to Underwood through back channels I'll allow it. I also wasn't going to include Kansas, but the one post about Beard looking out for one Big 12 job swayed me to at least add it to the list.
NC
Kansas
----big gap----
Indiana
Texas
Tennessee
Miami

Just glad Brad will deliver an NC for UI before leaving for NC this offseason. Great parting gift.

We had the least active college football carousel in a long time, especially in the P4 jobs. That might mean some places have extra money to make moves.

Get the point, but doubt there are many ADs thinking they will have extra money laying around next year with a new $20.5M expense on the income statement.

We actually do have a beach house, but you have to go over a cliff to get to the water. The house contemplated making that jaunt about a dozen years ago.

Indiana AD has tough search. I think they will have to accept Beard as damaged goods. At least he has RMK bloodline.

I don't think they are going to risk another mid major after Miller fiasco. They really missed their chance last season with Dusty May. I know Gene Bartow left Illinois after 1 season to take UCLA job but UCLA was clearly best program in country at the time.

Illinois had same problem when they stayed with Weber too long. They were unable to recruit another Kruger or Self and settled for a mid major 1 good season Groce.

I suspect they will go thru same exercise that UK did getting turned down by Drew, Oates, Hurley, Shaka etc. Mark Pope has done well at UK so maybe a non glamor candidate will work.

Lost 2 starters last year for the season in July last year … Lost 1 starter this year for the season in July … And his best player was hurt for a month this year right at the start of conference play … The Big East is a bad league ??? Do you watch Basketball ??? Last 2 national championship teams have come from the Big East … 3 teams are in the top 25 right now … UCONN would be a 4th if they were healthy all year …

If you think Sean’s a bad coach … You’re crazy …

Xavier is a good job … Not a great job … He doesn’t have the resources he did at Arizona …

But let’s just be clear … Sean is an ELITE coach …

Career Record (major schools):
480-194, .712 W-L%

Schools: Xavier (178-85) and Arizona (302-109)

Conference Champion: 8 Times (Reg. Seas.), 4 Times (Tourn.)

NCAA Tournament: 12 Years (21-12) including four Elite Eights and eight Sweet 16s

I’m on a lot of the UNC boards. Brad is nowhere to be found on any of their wish lists which could be way different than the UNC administration. UNC fans wouldn’t accept Underwood. It would be extremely disappointing to them.
