I'm not sure anymore. Is the point that we're only good when we get good players? Isn't that like every program? But let’s be real…(it’s not like there’s been just one drought either.) There is no denying the years we had marquee talent is the years we got marquee results. We know which teams put most of those wins up there…which teams inflated that win % I mean come on. It was the teams with the future pros AND the other good/solid competitive teams helmed by our winningest coaches. I mean what are we even talking about here?
My point, and I'll die on this hill, is that we're a top 15 program all time. All the times. All of them. Roll em up put em together. We have a top 15 body of work as a program.
Since the slush fund nuked the program, nearly every coach across nearly every decade has been pretty successful. (We were good before then, too.)
80s:
- Top 10 program
90s:
- Bruce Pearl sanctions. Probably like top 35 despite the sanctions.
00s
- Top 10 program
10s
- Bad
2020s
- Top 10 program
I just don't understand how a person can look at our program and think that conditions have to be perfect to win here. That the 2010s were our "normal". It's the opposite. As long as we don't have sanctions or an incompetent coach, we're a pretty elite program.
Anyway, let's beat Michigan.
