Plus he's born in Texas, played basketball in Texas, and all of his head coaching gigs have been in Texas. I would be shocked if he's leaving the state unless it's for a blue blood job.

Maybe John Groce would leave Akron? /s

There's no sugar coating it. If Brad leaves, that's bad news.

What the board thinks is irrelevant. But I don't think a new coach is going to be in the cards, regardless of what happens outside of Illinois.

Anybody who said the guy at Florida now (Golden) was a household name at San Fran would be lying. Despite his creepiness, he just got a traditionally sucky team to the Final 4. The coaching fraternity knows who the good ones are. I’m not worried should the occasion arise.

Five final 4's this century, and two championships, and we are calling them traditionally sucky? What does that make us?

When Buzz went to VaTech, he was asked in an interview why he left Marquette. His answer was that he was a heavy statistics guy, and that he had done analysis on Div I basketball coaching careers. The time to move was year 5 or 6 by his metrics. It is after the rebuild honeymoon and before things have time to get ugly. He's now been at TT for 6 years.

Some of the podcasts have mentioned how happy the staff is with Kwa Jones, so my concern has been they're buttering us up for the announcement that he's a permanent hire.
What are Kwa's responsibilities, strengths, and weaknesses? Please support your concern.

I’m asking this earnestly as I’d love for it to be remotely plausible - and I’ll even add that I of course understand why JW would make that call, as it’d be a beyond incredible hire to make in the event it could be made -

What can we offer Oats that Alabama doesn’t already?
