Same goes for Cronin in my view.
You can tell it's the offseason when we're debating which Big Ten coach is less likable! :)

Maybe it's because I live in Iowa and saw Fran a lot on local sportscasts, but I find him more likeable than Cronin - and certainly more than Willard - by a pretty wide margin. Fran obviously could go off, and he did some things like end the annual four-team event in Des Moines, but I never really saw him as anything more than a slightly-curmudgeonly guy with a temper.

Cronin just seems like a straight-up @&& . The constant griping, the "look at me" with the three-piece suits on the sidelines, and his general demeanor just does not sit that well with me. To be fair, I've thought that about him for years even when he was at Cincinnati. He's always rubbed me the wrong way with his comments and demeanor.

I think I'm glad Willard is gone, but I have to say I'm not looking forward to Buzz Williams being our foe.

Painter was really getting under my skin when beat us twice a year for 3 years in a row. Hard to dislike him personally - always polite and high integrity. Never badmouths another coach or his own players.

Nationwide Dan Hurley drives me crazy with all the funny faces he makes during games. However I like his honesty and passion.

With $NIL era it lessens the stigma on coaches/programs that blatantly paid players like Kansas, AZ, Duke, Kentucky etc.

Didn't really know where else to put this one, but if you have a subscription to The Athletic you have to read this story on the late Amir Abdur-Rahim. Fantastic coach, and clearly a better human being who left us far too soon.

We need someone to be a good Heel though. There aren't enough of them left in the B1G, particularly if Izzo retires. Who wants to respect and admire their opponents?! Give me all the Frans and Juwans and Dillards and Cronins and Izzos you can cram into this conference.
I agree. Coaching personalities are a big part of college basketball. I don't want a bunch of corporate clones.

Any names being discussed for assistant roles for the Illini?
(There was another guy mentioned, but his name is complicated and I can't remember it.)

If I had my pick for Hamer replacement …

And give me P Murph, Rod Clark, Mike, or Ben to replace Kwa/TA …

Thank you. Are these realistic names at the present?

I see Indy’s reply now. Oops.
