Y’all are picturing this “Hamer problem” as something that exists outside of this board.Which once again makes me wonder exactly what Josh Whitman is doing here. There's supporting your key employees, and then there is turning a blind eye to a clear negative and hoping against hope the situation works itself out.
I'll ask the question again - if this were the corporate world, would CEO Josh Whitman allow Senior VP Brad Underwood to keep Sales VP Zach Hamer if Hamer's results were similar to what they have been as the defensive coordinator? And at what point would the board of directors (i.e. the donors) start asking serious questions of CEO Whitman if this situation progressed?
Honestly, if (at the least) Hamer is not demoted, I seriously question whether Josh Whitman can effectively manage Brad Underwood.
Managing Brad Underwood and going against his decision of keeping Hamer (essentially pulling rank and personally firing one of his assistant coaches) are not the same thing... If you want to keep this business narrative going, who in the world pisses off one of their best employees to fire one of their team of underlings? Just not smart unless you want to be seen as a domineering @-hole of a CEO...Which once again makes me wonder exactly what Josh Whitman is doing here. However if you were 2% in favor and changed to 6% in favor, your favorability rating would have increased 200%.No... one cannot be more than 100% in favor of anything![]()

I guess “pretending a real problem doesn’t exist” is one way to address the issue.Y’all are picturing this “Hamer problem” as something that exists outside of this board.
We played St. Mary of the Woods? How did I miss that game? This also gives me some regional perspective as to your location...not many know of the PomeroysPart of my problem is that Brad doesn’t see the problem … Or is choosing to ignore it …
When you’ve got recruits and recruits families who find Hamer to be “weird” … That’s a problem …
When your defense only looks good against EIU and St Mary of the Woods … And when you face real programs it looks like hot… That’s a problem … And it starts with Hamer and ends with Brad … That’s ultimately Brad’s responsibility …
Needs to be massive improvement next year or we’re gonna be at 1 second weekend in 9 years … Simply not good enough … Not meeting expectations …
It's so baffling Brad wants to die on this hill. Why wouldn't he do everything possible to upgrade his staff as much as possible?Part of my problem is that Brad doesn’t see the problem … Or is choosing to ignore it …

Wow crazy you missed that. They scored 120 on us and Hamer did something so terrible I can't even bring myself to describe it. Suffice it to say that prior to the game we had silent commitments from 5 McDonald's All-Americans, all of whom rescinded their commitments after seeing it and stopped answering Brad's and Orlando's phone calls. We played St. Mary of the Woods? I’m a grad school alum of SMWC! Pretty remarkable place and a wonderful visit if someone hasn’t been to campus. We played St. Mary of the Woods? How did I miss that game? This also gives me some regional perspective as to your location...not many know of the Pomeroys

If Brad loves analytics so much then why is it so hard to see. Just using kenpom.. in the past 6 years we have had 1 season with a top 25 defense. And the last 2 seasons we were 80th and 40th. That's not good.Part of my problem is that Brad doesn’t see the problem … Or is choosing to ignore it …

Since 2001, 95.7% of the national champions have had a top-22 KenPom offense entering the NCAA Tournament, while 91.3% have had a top-32 KenPom defense.I’m sure someone’s got the statistics … But I am pretty confident in saying if you want to keep for Big Ten & National Championships … You need to be top 25 ish in both offensive and defensive efficiency …
Hamer ain’t cutting it …
The problem ain’t offense … I want to see less 3s next year … But Brad has shown he will adjust and find ways to score … Not my concern …
Fix the dang defense … And get me a guy who can recruit dawgs in the United States …
2 new assistant coaches is what’s needed …

The guy you’re asking for sounds an awful lot like Chester (ducks).
Just for some perspective, here is a list of teams that was outside the top 25 in either ORtg or DRtg last season, and their overall KenPom rtg:If Brad loves analytics so much then why is it so hard to see. This is true. But there are metrics that allow for pace of play and other things when determining defensive stats. So honest question, how does the fact that we jacked up threes with long rebounds & the awful turnovers at the top of the key that lead us to a high number of runouts hurt our defensive numbers?
Don't confuse this was saying our defense wasn't bad, we didn't pass any eye test for defense. But just seemed like some of our offensive choices may be impacting the defensive numbers as well, guessing our points off turnovers numbers were awful as well.
