(Whispers) Oklahoma State is a better job than Arkansas because you can win your conference and you won’t be auto-fired in 3-5 years.
Counterpoint: NIL
1. Arkansas's financial muscle is not an issue with Tyson, Jones, some Walton, and several others money...
2. OK St ran out T Boone Pickens money and there is some outsized programs in the Big XII when comes to cash. Cody Campbell of Texas Tech is trying to be the next Phil Knight. The other Texas schools are not shrinking violets either. BYU has splashed the cash in hoops and won't have issues in football. Heck mythological Swift-Kelce money for Cincinnati might be more than OK St.

Would he want to be OC for Arkansas if Traylor takes the job or be interested in the UTSA job if it opens? Or is he satisfied being the OC here?
would leave his job as OC here after 4 years to work for Traylor at Arky ?

would leave here to be HC at UTSA ? I dunno
can they match salary ?

Would Pittman be interested in coaching OL here if Bret offered, or is that too low of a drop for him?
at his age, he’s not getting a DC or OC spot at a big time school. kinda depends on how bad he wants to still coach amd climb the ladder again. guys that age tend to wind up at G5 schools. if you love coaching , and some guys really do , you don’t care how big the school is

Pittman could just stay at Arkansas and be an “ambassador”. He has good relationships with the donors and connects with the culture. He might be old enough to just accept the paycheck and leave behind the pressure.

If he still wants to coach, he can take a job at [name your school] and be one of the best paid o-line coaches. Would be a coup to get him at Illinois.

This.

The Badgers had a style that was all their own and was extraordinarily successful with it for three decades. Barry Alvarez saw the unique makeup of the kids that grew up in Wisconsin and created a system tailored to them. Fickel has tried to make Wisconsin something it’s not.

It’s like Iowa fans crying about their offense. Their games are boring but they don’t make mistakes and win. Let switch up to an air raid and a 3-3 defense like Wisconsin did. I bet the outcome would be similar. Nil helps with recruiting but Wisconsin doesn’t have the athletes instate to run that. Not to mention not many teams in the Midwest have success running that

If I'm Lashlee (or a few of the others that may be in line) I stay clear of the Arky job. Way too many hurdles there. He can stay at SMU and wait for a better opportunity. ACC a lot easier to pile up wins than the SEC. Better spots will be open.

Thing is Arkansas is Lashlee's home

Arky would be prolly the 13th best job in a 16 team SEC. But I get that Lashlee is an alum and the draw of going back is big.

Who are 14, 15 and 16? Vanderbilt is currently ranked. Kentucky has been ranked recently.

If Lashlee makes the move to Arkansas it's going to be because the Razorbacks are making a substantially big increased investment into the program. Which begs the question of why they didn't do that before if football truly mattered to their boosters like they act in front of media.

Was just listening to College Sports Radio and the beat writer from Arkansas was on there saying he is pretty high on the list of candidates.
i’m not surprised he is high on their list , but I will be shocked if they hire a guy without head coaching experience .

that list should be , in no particular order :
Lashlee
Traylor
Sumrall

I just don't know how you could give the keys to the program to someone without success in that role before .

the rules of the game behind the scenes has changed dramatically the past 3-4 years

I think Arkansas has ton of big money boosters, however it is one of the few schools with fingers in three pies for men with a strong baseball program.
