He turned Ole Miss into the #6 team in the country per your last post. It’s not like they’ve been a perennial powerhouse.
I get it, he's done well. I just feel that he underachieves (at least has to this point) with what he has it his disposal.

Like if there was an equivalent to baseball's WAR for coaches he'd be slightly above average.

Edit to add: Rereading those two thoughts, I honestly have no idea if they can coexist... I don't know anymore. I'm just glad we have Bret.

I don't know how any recruit or administrator trusts Kiffin.

Pair that with Os exit from LSU because he propositioned a board member's pregnant wife..

I thought LSU was unlikable with Kelly, this is kicking it up a notch
Kiffin really does like Oxford. He’s been very up front and honest with Ole Miss admin from the start of this. He’s just going for the reasons I stated in my previous post. Kiffin is a lot more likable than Kelly….trust me

As for coaches propositioning married women….dont get me started on some former Illini coaches lol

There probably needs to be some rating scale on this.

Propositioning married woman
Propositioning married woman who is pregnant
Propositioning woman at her husband's funeral.

Feels like some parallels to Illinois (your first paragraph - I’ll leave the second paragraph alone!). Would kind of like to see him stay at Ole Miss and a ‘changing of the guard’ with a traditional SEC power in LSU staying down.

Just like I’d love say a Michigan to stay down while we rose.

I think more than anything, it’s Penn State striking out on their top candidates looking save face “stealing” a coach from Bama who’s job has never been safe to begin with.
Deboer has went on an absolute tear since losing to FSU. Can't imagine his job is in jeopardy with a playoff lock and 70 million dollar buyout.

Maybe his family wants out after seeing the teeth come out over one loss? Seems like the ship is pretty steady at the moment.

I just don't see this happening unless Cig has back channeled that this is the job he leaves for..

I would go after Chesney, the coach of James Madison now. Only 48 years old. Get him Josh. I heard UCLA wants him so Illini need to act soon

After AH's first year where they used the phrase "learning on the job" to justify his dreadful defense I was done. You learn on the job at a MEAC school, not in the Big Ten. This is supposed to be big boy football not "I got this job because I've known the head coach since I was 16."
I'm sure he's a nice guy but so are a lot of people not making 7 figures.

What’s wrong is this staff is not good at coaching. They got lucky and rode Luke for years.

Maybe with a little uncomfortable conversations maybe people can step aside or seek other opportunities all friendly like to keep all relevant parties satisfied yet gently knudging them in certain directions... win win with nice severence packages and NDAs
