Have we looked into CalvIn A Peartree?
This guy? But it may not be a SB coach at all. BB likes to throw out red herrings from time to time.

My guess is it would be someone from the Seattle staff.
That would be amazing.

Not too familiar, but watching some social media videos, apparently Macdonald defensive staff figured out how to run their defense but this year and fix the issue of poor run defense. Physical nickel to support run. Have to have the right players, and I would assume staff will be highly coveted in the NFL.

I am so happy we are going outside for the new DC. It was great to give AH a chance but it did not work out.

You can blame the personnel but we recruited them, developed them, and called the formation/plays.

Last year

1. No pass rush in most games - we rarely blitzed and often only rushed 3. Other than Jacas we were not fast.

2. We sat back in zone with big cushion and allowed easy 10-15 yard passes. Our secondary was letting offense catch the pass then went to tackle. No aggressiveness.

3. We were poor open field tacklers letting opposition turn short and medium passes into long gains. That is on coaches. Critical weakness when combined with number 2.

Next year
1. Create a pass rush. Always send at least 4. Do stunts and delays to get linemen free. Add corner and safety blitzes that the offense will have to account for. We need 3rd down pass rush specialists. No need for 280 lb slow run stoppers to be on field on 3rd and 20. Be aggressive.

2. Mix in man to man. Make offense have to guess what we are going to do next. Give the secondary chance to lock down their receivers and make plays. This will free up personnel to blitz.

3. Leave your best defenders on field for all 3 downs. I understand we want to keep players fresh but there was big difference between our starters, 2nd string and 3rd string. Our rotation system on defense has not worked past 3 years.

Very underrated trait by great coaches: willingness to try new things.

Not sure it’ll work out, but plenty of egocentric coaches out there that would blame coordinators or players for not executing their scheme rather than trying something new or even admitting it just doesn’t work anymore.

Announcement after the SB leaves me to believe it will be someone coaching in that game. Possibly Zak Kuhr? He has had a great year with the Patriots and with Terrell Williams more than likely taking the defense back over next season and Kuhr going back to coaching linebackers, maybe a move to coaching the Defense at Illinois would be a good move for Kuhr. Young coach that keeps the offense guessing and isn't afraid to mix it up a bit. He was an offensive coach for several years in college, so he knows how offenses think.

Maybe Kevin Richardson. Believe he was an analyst or assistant coach here begore going to Pariots

Majority of time you will have 5 db’s on the field in any defense you play.
Hence, why X Scott and M Baily are returning and Karriem and Patterson are not. Makes sense to me.

I would think no. He is less experienced than Henry that would be a step back.
agree

can’t see how BB gives the keys to the D to him

you might recall that I was the guy who said last fall that Bret had to take the keys away from AHen as “friends don’t let friends drive drunk “ .
He obviously recognized AHen was in over his head . I’m going to be shocked if the new DC is a risky choice .
