Never called defensive plays in his life and we just made him DC? what
Even after this hire I still have 0 idea what the plan isJust not exactly sure what the direction were going for is...
Come on now…..how hard can it be?Never called defensive plays in his life and we just made him DC? what
Bret doesn’t have his coordinators do a lot of recruiting anywayCan he recruit? What does he bring to the table in the recruiting world, especially for a guy who doesn't embrace the current system? He had better get comfortable really quickly.
Don't know what to expect here. Trust Bret is as far as one can take it.
Based on his comments at his retirement PC, I don't think he's going to be recruiting very much, if at all.Can he recruit? What does he bring to the table in the recruiting world, especially for a guy who doesn't embrace the current system? He had better get comfortable really quickly.

CANT BE THAT HARD... oh wait lol. Love Bret. this hire is weird and does not help build culture on that side of the ball. Just really odd.Come on now…..how hard can it be?![]()
great point... all the scheme change talk to just hire a 65 year old man who ran the same front that we did last season? So we lost all those players for no reason? Another 3 man front?
our new D is going to be alot of what you all saw last night from Seattle. after the front 3 or 4, the rest of the 7-8 guys are all just uber athletes that have speed and can hit like Mike TysonLots of references to Rocky Long (who Hauck assisted as AHC/ST at San Diego State in the mid 2010's) and the 3-3-5 defense in that press release.
Long is a very underrated coach famous for funky hybrid type players, most famously Brian Urlacher at New Mexico.
There are probably a good chunk of great recruits that may not be interested in a DC that didnt show interest in them.we didnt hire him to recruit
He gets to focus on one thing only, just win baby.I can't lie, I take an extremely dim view of coaches who don't "like" coaching in the current college football landscape.

We were essentially a 5 man front for years. So we lost all those players for no reason? Another 3 man front?
I wasn't aware of that! That's interesting! So, the Coordinator has to coach up whoever Bret hands him? That would not be an easy job. If you're a recruit, wouldn't you want to know who's heading up the defense and ask questions of him?Bret doesn’t have his coordinators do a lot of recruiting anyway
i was listening to one of the sports talk stations in chicago when they drafted Urlacher. So much whining. Nobody knows if he is a fullback, tight end, safety, punt returner, or what. Seemed to work out.Lots of references to Rocky Long (who Hauck assisted as AHC/ST at San Diego State in the mid 2010's) and the 3-3-5 defense in that press release.
