what a swing of events from today. We went from being sure we were getting someone from the NFL who was an incredible recruiter in college to a coach who retired because he was burnt out or something? I didn't have this on my bingo card.

I can't lie, I take an extremely dim view of coaches who don't "like" coaching in the current college football landscape.

I get it

but its why he bailed on being a head coach, but not being a coach

Bobby Hauck = age 61 years old.`

I think he knows a bit more about college football defenses than I do.

He's Coach B's choice. I'm good with that.
What’s the point of having a discussion here if we’re just defaulting to whatever the coach thinks? I respect that you trust Coach B, but if you were asked to give evidence in a court setting to support your agreement or disagreement, simply pointing to someone else’s opinion wouldn’t hold much weight. It would probably be dismissed pretty quickly. The whole point of discussion is to bring our own reasoning and perspectives, not just rely on another person’s stance.

Based on his comments at his retirement PC, I don't think he's going to be recruiting very much, if at all.
I think it is more about having his best players stolen by Div 1

Agreed. I don’t love hiring guys who are on the backend of the careers.
How old are you :ROFLMAO:

I am 63, run my own company and still run circles around the kids.

I wonder if there is a stopgap element to this. At 61, and not loving the current landscape, perhaps Bielema already has sights on the next one a year or 2 down the road.
This was my initial read. Bring in someone who will run the same system then pivot to a Macdonald/Minter assistant next offseason

The average tenure of a OC or DC is 2-3 years. He average is basically a non factor.

Look it up. Was I wrong? Nope. What did your so called “insider” tell you? A bunch of smoke.

I’m with you. I’d feel better if this was the plan all along. If the Seattle coach really backed out today and we already have Hauck lined up that feels a bit more like panic. Maybe it’s a good plan B and Bret found out his first choice bailed much earlier.

Either way I’m hoping he’s a success.

Seems like a good hire, what happened to the Super Bowl coach from Seattle? Couldn’t finalize that deal and made a quick pivot, seems like.

On second thought, it will be fun to watch someone coach less passively on defense. Definitely not a name I had on my (outsider) radar)
