Wow, mid-majors are at 10-20% of what the Power 6 are paying. Good lord.

He might well be making a bit more in later years of the contract. When there's a buyout to be mitigated that's generally the way the agreements are structured. That was the case with Lovie for instance.

But yeah, the P5 are leaving everyone behind.

Is it P5 or P6?

Well, Power Five is definitely a term that has gained traction. In basketball I think we can just understand that to implicitly include the Big East. We're B1G fans, we're comfortable with one number actually meaning another number, right?

(Though, it's worth wondering whether the Big East can last at that level without football revenue. Something to think about long-term.)

Yeah, I guess I only think in terms of BB. It doesn't help when Pitt & Syracuse come to mind when I think of the Big East.

I think that is probable.

I was thinking about Groce at Akron yesterday and how long he'll be there.

Over/under at 4.5 years. What's your guess?

Over. Most likely he will do good enough to not get fired, but not so great as to be offered a better job.

I am definitely taking the over. I have a feeling he is going to be there for the long haul.

This is pretty much what I concluded as well. It's not likely he overachives and moves back to the big leagues, but he'll probably do well enough to keep his job. It's probably exactly where he belongs. Same with Weber.

So now that we've got Chin, where did Chuck Martin end up? (S. Carolina?)

From the Akron Beacon Journal:

UA signed Groce to a six-year contract with the first two years paying $350,000, [Akron President] Wilson said. There are bonus opportunities for meeting specific goals.

Question, why does Bruce have such a "bad" relationship with the fans? He never seemed like that kind of guy to me.

Mediocre coaching combined with a socially awkward personality.

Now to Goemaw to see the bodies jumping from highest buildings.

I'll give everyone three guesses how Cuonzo does at Miznoz over the next three years....and two don't count. :D

Missouri: Cuonzo Martin
Career record: 186-121 in nine seasons overall
(62-39 in three seasons at California, 63-41 in three seasons at Tennessee, 61-41 in three seasons at Missouri State)
