Haven’t seen Chester Frazier name mentioned...alum asst at VT.
powell, Howard, Frazier most qualified in the alum category from my memory. Not sure their development focus. That seems pretty good, on a general basis, to have 3 alum on P5/ top staffs.
If replacing OA duties may need to look outside alums...Big man development. Recruiting.

We need to find a top level big-man coach now IMO. Show Kofi there is still a benefit to coming back, and continue to be a destination for big-man recruits/transfers.

OA leaving isn’t a cost free action. The team will now need to recruit a replacement. Rerecruit the players. There is an opportunity loss in the marketing that implicitly comes from the Illlini outbidding UK.

Pay him $3 million and flex.

This isn’t a hostage situation; it’s the free market and the market sets the rate.

Not everyone is in a position to pay the market rate like this, but the Illini certainly are.

I’ve been saying this in football for 10 years now. Why wouldn’t a school like Texas or Michigan or (gulp) Illinois offer Saban or (and now Dabo) $20MM a year? You don’t think competing in the BCS most years would bring that back in revenue and exposure.

Same concept in a lesser scale.

Correct. We didn’t take a flyer on him. We were lucky of the timing of all this when we hired him. There would have been plenty of programs looking to hire him.

They take Kelenna Azubuike, Anthony Davis, Tyler Ulis, Kahlil Whitney, and now Orlando Antigua. And they couldn't take the greatest assistant coach of all time, Billy Gillispie, off of the bottle.
