I’ve been saying this in football for 10 years now. Why wouldn’t a school like Texas or Michigan or (gulp) Illinois offer Saban or (and now Dabo) $20MM a year? You don’t think competing in the BCS most years would bring that back in revenue and exposure. Why not? Let’s say Illini are comfortable paying $800k hypothetically. What’s $2 million? As a vested interest in the success of the program and brand would you pay $1.2 million to for the benefits of keeping him?
Players staying vs leaving
Fan excitement
Marketing
Etc
OA leaving isn’t a cost free action. The team will now need to recruit a replacement. Rerecruit the players. There is an opportunity loss in the marketing that implicitly comes from the Illlini outbidding UK.
Pay him $3 million and flex.
This isn’t a hostage situation; it’s the free market and the market sets the rate.
Not everyone is in a position to pay the market rate like this, but the Illini certainly are.
Way too much smoke for OA. Holding out hope for chin though
Call Deon ASAP!!!!!Good lord. Stalker alert.
OA is excellent and it will suck to lose him. However, Chin and Gentry are outstanding, and there are tons of great recruiting assistants out there.
We'll be fine.
JW's To Do List:
Pay Chin Coleman.
Call Roger Powell.
Get the D1 hockey program finished.
Take Dee off of Double Secret Probation
all of us right now....
Correct. We didn’t take a flyer on him. We were lucky of the timing of all this when we hired him. There would have been plenty of programs looking to hire him. It'd be pretty lame for Underwood to hang this over a guy's head. People are going to make the best decision for them. Do you stick with the employer that gave you your first big break?
Because then they’d be in line for a 2nd raise now hahaHow the staff wasn't presented with raises right after the season ended is beyond me.

That wasn’t his neighbors house. That was a house in Chicago. Why do you think his wife was so angry....LOL. Can I just say, yeah, this looks like a husband being dragged out by his angry wife to talk to a neighbor about a problem. And it's typically not trespassing to knock on someone's front door.

How are you seeing that video? Says it's private to meThere is a lot more to that situation than most will ever know...
