It must be nice going on a Great Vacation, knowing you are going to get PAID!

When you get back.

Valid points. I'm more coming from the angle of the desirable destination. I don't think Orlando is irreplaceable. At face value, I think he's a good recruiter, but I would be interested to see other comparisons similar to the one you raised. Data aside, Kentucky's willingness to fight for him speaks volumes to me.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. I really don't know how I feel about this whole situation. I don't know enough about recruiting to really have an informed opinion on this.

I think him pulling Curbelo and Kofi, along with Kentucky's willingness to fight, should speak volumes to anyone on this board.

If they are staying at an alum's place, and if by chance you are reading this post, charge them out the @$$ for their stay if they end up leaving!

Illinois' willingness to fight is way more telling to me. For UK, Bringing OA back could just be a way for Cal to hush his critics/boosters... shake up his staff and rehire the asst who was here for the good years. It's not like the level or their recruiting will change, they didn't stop getting 5-stars after he left. Meaning for UK it could be more about perception. And what's a few mil for their boosters when it comes to bball. But for us to start throwing around big boy dollars, with Underwood as secure as any coach in the conference, that to me says they've seen first-hand OA's value compared to other assts out there.

Isnt Kentucky offering 2d asst to OA (behind Bruiser Flint) when he is our top asst? You'd think that would count for some 2d thoughts toward Ky for OA...

New guess: OA and Chin weren't happy with how Jamall Walker left the program. They liked Jamall so they didn't appreciate how it seemed like he was sent packing to make room for Gentry.

Alternatively: Gentry regularly talks in the third person and it's starting to drive them nuts.

Super-alternatively: Gentry has started referring to all animals, even birds, as "fur-babies." A recent intervention was unsuccessful, which led to OA and Chin simultaneously deciding to "go on vacation" in disgust.

Soo.....I don't feel like anyone has thought of this yet....

I'm starting to wonder if THIS is what we have all been waiting on...

We have been waiting on a recruit to wait for that Kentucky offer and spurn them for the beloved...

We had it wrong; it was a recruiter!

2nd thread I've said this, I'll be glad when this is done.
I think we all will, or maybe some here actually enjoy this madness. Either way, I'm kinda grateful it has taken this long to get an answer. If we end up losing OA and/or RC, the blow has been softened, as far as I'm concerned. If we come out on top, the win will have some extra savor to it

I think you're onto something here, my friend.

Maybe they aren't happy that, after Walker's ouster, Gentry is occupying a recruiting role despite not doing much recruiting. That forces OA and CC to do the work of three people on the recruiting trail.

Wow, completely forgot about that happening. I remember things got a little testy after the Walker demotion.
I thought Walker's demotion was a bit of punishment that opened the door for Gentry to walk into. Was he actually just moved aside to make room for Gentry?

Just going off memory here and my interpretation of how the news broke:

Someone went over the top of someone, either Whitman over BU or BU unilaterally decided to bring Gentry on. It caught everyone by surprise, eroded a lot of trust within the program and upset the staff.

My recollection was JW kinda forced BUs hand into making a change, and the demotion was just to make for a softer landing for Jamall walker. I seem to remember the insiders here insinuating it was somehow related to JW being concerned about walker's activities on the recruiting trail or something and BU wasn't thrilled but had to go along
