I looked him up yesterday. He was making $280,000, prior to his most recent contract that came out 6/2019. Didn't say what the new number was. He was also the lowest paid of the 3 Oregon assistants at the time. They were all getting new contracts that summer. They have pulled in some major talent since he has been there. The $1,000,000 question, how many did "he" bring in.

I also looked up Roger, but couldn't get a salary. Apparently, my google skills are weak in this instance.

Certainly, if these 2 were priorities, one would think that we could afford them, without paying AO money.
It’s a fair question. They had top 10 recruiting classes between 2016-2019.

But does he have any ties to the current area. If his family was Air Force based, I would imagine they moved on when it closed.
I would say his local ties are pretty strong. He was in Rantoul at least as early as 5th grade and seems like his parents and brother are still local.

The Mennenga name has been prominent in Central Illinois athletics for decades.

Mike’s father, Marv, was an outstanding softball pitcher who was selected in 2007 to the Illinois Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame.

Marv Mennenga also coached basketball, at St, Malachy in Rantoul and worked with Larry Butler and the Illinois Warriors AAU program.

Mike’s older brother, Deon, is the high school head coach at Armstrong-Potomac.

Beyond high school, Mike Mennenga played basketball for two years at Vincennes (Ind.) University and for two years at Morehead State, in Kentucky.

He then returned to Champaign County to launch the first steps of his basketball coaching dream.

Mike Mennenga was an assistant at Rantoul High school in 1993-94, followed by one year on staff at Parkland College in 1994-95.

During both of those years — as well as in 1995-96 — Mennenga organized and ran Super Sophs in Rantoul. It was a program for the top 42-rated sophomores in the state.

He then made the quantum leap from AAU coach in Illinois to the University of Maine as an assistant coach for the 1996-97 school year.

Don't know accurate or exhaustive this list is, but it's something: https://247sports.com/Coach/Mike-Mennenga-2840/AllTimeRecruits/

Is Walker still on the payroll?

i might be wrong on this, but i thought the ongoing speculation was Walker was forced out not by BU but someone higher (JW?). And BU would only agree to it (or at least tolerate it) only if he could bring in Gentry and Walker could stay on the payroll (with a different title) until he could land somewhere else. is that way off base? if not, are OA/CC's gripes more with admin vs. BU? Guess it doesn't really matter that much, but just curious.

At least when it comes to the free boards, there was a lot of speculation and insider insinuation but nothing concrete. Maybe those who pay for the pay sites have more details, but not we plebeians.

Worth mentioning since UK is a state school they have to post the jobs to meet EEO laws and requirements. Just because it’s the athletic department and they know who they want doesn’t mean they can skirt employment law. HR is the worst.
We didn't advertise an opening before hiring Smith. He was introduced as the new coach within 48 hours of Cubit's firing. There were five days between Smith's firing and Bielema's hiring.

Seems like IF Antigua and Chin are going to Kentucky that we wouldn't hear any news until 5/3 at the earliest. Obviously would love to hear from them that they are committed and staying at Illinois before that date.

May 3? That does NOT work with my schedule. I would like to request that they move that date up, I feel that 4/28 works better for me. (Hey, it's a Wednesday). I have worked vacations before. It is not that hard to tell your significant other, "hey, I'm getting a new contract", "yes, they are more than doubling my current pay". I will be back to the pool in an hour.

Since Zaga is private, I don't believe they have to make Rev's salary public.
Roger is a religious man. All three universities that he has worked for have been religious (Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic). Maybe that is his preference.

I dont post so my opinion may not be worth much, but I agree that It can't be that hard to accept or reject the dang offer no matter what you are doing? Honestly, the longer this goes the less I care what these 2 decide to do.
💩 or get off the pot as the saying goes...
