He would have to pull an Isaac Chew?No chance on Jerrance he just took the Texas job. Had this happened a month ago maybe.
A Chicago AAU guy doesn't get us Curbelo. I get the thinking that we need to win Chicago, and agree that we need to make a serious dent up here, but I want guys that can find athletes that fill our needs.I want a Chicago AAU guy, Jerrance Howard, Roger Powell. In that order.

I having a question for all you with a little more expertise than me. When contracts are signed with head coaches is it the same with assistants? Is the university / athletic dept protected in any way when an assistant up and wants to leave because they are being poached by another school / program ?? The coaches seem to be protected by contracts when they are fired, it don 't work both ways? I sure hope Coach Underwood already has his next assistants lined up since he knows what is happening.....
Classic!!
Curbelo is staying. Have confirmed that with multiple people.
Cal simply needs someone else to blame if they stink again next year .I suspect we’ll experience Newton’s 3rd law. Lose OA and Chin then steal two strong new assistants and move on down the road. It is odd though, we loved OA for recruiting but Calipari must need his coaching. He had a ton of 5* and stunk last year.
I agree that we need to not just rely on Chicago and not be so over-fixated on it in general, but I also really want to have a solid fighting chance with the crop of talent coming in '23 and '24 (and beyond of course). That '23 class in particular is national championship-level talent. Would be ideal if we can capitalize on recent success and some connections to those prospects and reel a couple in.A Chicago AAU guy doesn't get us Curbelo. I don't even know his first 2 laws...guess I should have paid more attention in physics class.I suspect we’ll experience Newton’s 3rd law. Well said... I think almost every one of the Weber teams was ranked at some point, IIRC...Weber and Groce both brought in Power 5 talent and we were ranked in the top 25 in the early 2010's. The issue was never really recruiting, it was roster construction. Let's also not act like Chin and OA were the only variables that changed recently.
We also don't know that we are losing the whole staff. The dust hasn't settled yet so we can't act like this is the end of our run. If we lose Chin and OA, let's see who we "poach" from other programs before thinking we are going back to the bottom 4 of the B1G.
I hope your right. Thank ******** GodCurbelo is staying. Have confirmed that with multiple people.
every action on the coaching carousel has an equal and opposite reaction on the coaching carousel

On..."...hire a HS coach". Nate Oats says Hi...(and agree few HS coaches will turn into star coaches like Nate Oats)Montverde is the top h.s. program in the country, they recruit players from all parts of the U.S. Probably has had more future NBA players go through there than any other school. He's the highest paid h. s. coach in the country. BTW, I would not want us to hire a h.s. coach.
The bigger question is why do all three coaches want to leave? That would seem to indicate some underlying issues.
Chicago AAU is a cesspool. I would stay away from anyone associated.I want a Chicago AAU guy, Jerrance Howard, Roger Powell. In that order.
I agree completely. If BU brings in new high quality assistants, then in a few years they will be looking at good opportunities. The fact that our assistant coaches are in demand is actually a good thing. Frustrating, I understand, but quality people naturally want to look around for opportunities to advance their own personal situation. The coaching world is pretty cut throat, they need to grab the best choice when it becomes available. If you don't win, AD's won't hesitate to cut the coaches.Yeah, I'm not buying it (underlying issues). Why does anyone leave? Opportunity knocks. It's not like guys are leaving for chopped liver. These are elite jobs. We're in an upper tier, but we're not at the pinnacle.
Would love for Chin to stay as our AAU connection and lead recruiter. Lovable guy by all accounts.Chicago AAU is a cesspool. I would stay away from anyone associated.
Exactly. With the $$$ tossed around for OA, other qualified P5 bball coaches with recruiting savey so noted.People are making much too much about the posting of these positions. We can post whenever we want, search whenever we want, and we can extend offers whenever we want. We just can't officially hire someone.
I'm also a bit mystified when people share concern about the timing being bad. The 2021 recruiting season is all but done and I'm guessing that we'll be fine in the transfer recruiting process which I anticipate to extend well into August.
