Did they go to Illinois?Yup, I'm not an insider but I hear we are looking to bring on these 3 guys:
I think those ARE several of our "insiders" ;-)Yup, I'm not an insider but I hear we are looking to bring on these 3 guys:
You don’t hire people simply because they are alums and aren’t a threat to leave. You hire the best people . Being an alum is a plus . Im sure Whitman isn’t “just hiring a guy that won’t leave”. You hire experienced people of good character. Frazier fits that .Ok.....then I would say he is a step or 2 back from what we are losing. And....he adds nothing in Chicago.
I think he is a safe hire because he is an alum.
of all of the ex illini out there with resumes that could get them an interview even if they weren’t former illini, don’t think that CF is one of them.
Chet is possibly a better coach than all those guys you mentioned. I’d saw he’s the best coach of the bunch actually.of all of the ex illini out there with resumes that could get them an interview even if they weren’t former illini, don’t think that CF is one of them. roger, jerrance, randle, yes. if we need to take a shot on an under qualified guy because they “connect with recruits” why not Dee?
i forgot... “the incident” that no one will talk about and knows no details about but has somehow resulted in his banishment
Is kind of interesting with all the knowledgeable geniuses on this board that we have yet to learn the dirt on this.of all of the ex illini out there with resumes that could get them an interview even if they weren’t former illini, don’t think that CF is one of them. roger, jerrance, randle, yes. if we need to take a shot on an under qualified guy because they “connect with recruits” why not Dee?

Right. Just let it be.I don’t think it’s lack of knowledge. It’s more about respect for Dee and his family.
I'm not saying I want Chester, or don't. However, if you put his resume down next to Chester's with no names on it, I would bet the majority of people would pick Frazier, prior to Illinois.Chin was not high profile when Underwood hired him.
Said person was banging the wrong drum, ok!of all of the ex illini out there with resumes that could get them an interview even if they weren’t former illini, don’t think that CF is one of them. roger, jerrance, randle, yes. if we need to take a shot on an under qualified guy because they “connect with recruits” why not Dee?

Yep, they all graduated with LAS degrees.Did they go to Illinois?Yup, I'm not an insider but I hear we are looking to bring on these 3 guys:
Well, Mendenhall checks the box of former Illini....that’s good...People do have the ability to learn. If we can bring Mendenhall in or someone with major recruiting chops I wouldn't be too concerned about Frazier being hired. He could learn a thing or 2 from a top dog recruiter and become one himself in time.
Or respect for others ...I don’t think it’s lack of knowledge. It’s more about respect for Dee and his family.
I assume Moe is the #1 assistant.Yup, I'm not an insider but I hear we are looking to bring on these 3 guys:

Lost me, too. Who is Mendenhall?
Chin was not high profile when Underwood hired him.
Our success last season (until the Tournament) may have led the ACs to think that their stock had risen as high as it was going to at Illinois. Assuming the player departures result in a less successful season next year, the assistants might not want to ride the roller coaster back down, even if only for a season or two. This isn't a knock on Underwood, who's done a great job at Illinois, but I could be a while before we start two All Americans again. This is what I am struggling with. We are coming off a season where we basically won the B1G, won the BTT, and were a 1 seed in the dance and seem poised to maintain our momentum. So I ask myself how many comparable teams in similar situations would lose 3 assistant coaches to non-hc moves when money ultimately doesn't seem to be the issue? It makes me think that the underlying issue is BU and that scares the hell out of me.
