End of Week. You missed one.

Yeah.

OA will absolutely be missed....but there is no way anyone could convince me that this potential group will not be better than OA, Chin, and Gentry.

Chet is being a little underappreciated on this board so far. Cy is easily a 1a type choice for me. Don't mind the other "misses" at all if he says yes.
Chester is being a lot underappreciated on here. I won't be surprised if most on here have it mixed and Chester ends up being the more successful AC.

You might be right, but I think he's about to be in a difficult spot. If we're really on the cusp of putting an Irvin on our staff, then Chin is about to get squeezed. Jumping up to UK has now significantly increased expectations and the pressure on him to perform. Facing those challenges without his go-to safety net (MIF) could be a brutal experience in the short-term.
Ya I agree that there is certainly going to be a higher level of expectations and pressure placed on his shoulders. I support any moves by JW and BU to try and cut his Chicago legs out from under him but I wouldn't expect to be able to shut him out of the elite pool of Chicago talent indefinitely.

Tallahassee has better weather, just as good if not better girls, is in the ACC and has a been putting players in the league recently.
This is one of those unfortunate moments where us fans have to realize the optics of our program versus other “non basketball” schools.

You need to take your own advice and put down the orange Koo Aid on this one.

I think the G League is going to dramatically alter college basketball. It will surprise me anytime a 5* signs a NLI and actually plays college ball.
If this happens the blue bloods will be all over the 4 stars leaving even fewer top players for everyone else.

not to be a downer or read too far into twitter activity... but C.Y is continuing to like and tweet a ton of FSU related content. could all be smoke considering nothing has been announced yet and he's still on staff at FSU, but hard to ignore especially when a potential announcement seems imminent

What's interesting to me is that it's all extremely old stuff that he'd have to be digging up to find. It almost feels like a retrospective of his time there and something you'd do if you're trying to show you've done right by the program you're about to leave. Though, admittedly, that might be me seeing it with my orange-colored glasses.

interesting perspective... hope you're right!

At Kentucky, all Chin has to do is sit by the phone and recruits call him.
Yeah, but that's not "pulling his weight." Chin was almost certainly brought to UK to provide them with additional footholds in Chicago. If all Chin is doing is answering the phone, then he's not providing any significant added value as a recruiter. That won't fly there in the long run.

The next time UK struggles to get top 25 recruits will be the 1st in Cal's tenure. Expectations will be higher, but its a much easier sell. You can barely look at any NBA roster w/o finding a former Wildcat. (29 active players)
Even if the G-League and other pro-prep leagues (looks like two are starting) start taking the top prospects, blue bloods will still get the best guys who decide to go the NCAA route. It may force them into changing their model into more of a long-term development model, but they are still going to get a LOT of their targeted players. The relaxed transfer rules will also allow them to poach under-rated players who emerge, or veterans who fill a need. (They are already moving in that direction with Oscar T., CJ Fredrick, et al)

Probably, but it will definitely be interesting to see how efficient those programs are at getting guys to the league when they aren't recruiting/playing almost exclusively players who are already league ready and only going to the NCAA due to the one-and-done rule.

Agreed, but I think the major reason Cal came and got our guys is because he has already considered what we are discussing. OA was the big prize because he isn't just a good recruiter. He is also very well regarded as a big man coach. These days it seems like every team has good guard play. The teams that separate themselves have really good big men as well. Scouting and development will be bigger factors than ever, but I think the transfer rules will positively impact Blue bloods more than other programs. This will still allow them to add players who are both really talented and ready to contribute every off-season.

He is extremely well connected and well respected. The dude can freaking recruit with the best of them.

He got FSU guys like Dwayne Bacon, Malik Beasley, Terance Mann, Jonathan Isaac, MJ Walker, Patrick Williams, Scottie Barnes, Matthew Cleveland, Caleb Mills just to name a few...
Hope we get him. I'm a big fan of FSU's basketball team. They play with class, but seemed skilled and long.

I happen to agree with you. One thing, however --- you have to also consider the draw of the head coach. L. Hamilton, Juwan Howard, Patrick Ewing, Shaka, and Penny are going to inherently get a lot of kids that other programs simply will not.

Still trusting Brad to hire the right guys.
I thought Lovie would inherently get guys. (Sorry, off topic and wrong sport, but too late to delete it).

Is it possible the next AC will be someone whose name has not been bandied about on this board?
