Yeah, I’m pretty sure some of the delay around OA/Chin was due to Terrance Clarke’s death. How long were our positions open/posted before Chester was hired? Couldn’t have been long.
I think those rumors were what OA was offered.Came from Zagoria who is typically pretty well connected.

Why would they have been negotiating with them for so long and posted the position? Weren’t they still under contract and either them or Kentucky had to buy those contracts out from Illinois. When was the position Chester was hired into posted? Has the Gonzaga position been posted? Love was literally hired like a day or two after Whitman started working and fired Cubit. Until I see proof I’m pretty sure this whole jobs have to be posted for a certain timeframe is conjecture that gets thrown around in here.Sure it could. If OA/Chin said they were leaving a week or two before then we could have formally opened a position right then. They didn't have to announce it all over social media to open the position. This could also be a big red herring.

No, but I've incepted myself into half believing this plane that's been going between champaign, virginia, omaha, dupage, and florida has something to do with the assistant search. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N863LB/history
Not to start new rumors, but that plane is scheduled to go to Oregon tomorrow.

I worked in HR for the State of Connecticut for 10 years. What happens there: Different jobs & job titles have differing hiring requirements. A 'Senior Management' position, such as the one for which Lovie was hired, wouldn't have a posting requirement. Positions like AC or AHC would because they don't run an operation like Lovie, BU, etc.Why would they have been negotiating with them for so long and posted the position? I also work for a large not for profit organization and I could offer and hire someone into a position literally the day after it’s posted.
Thanks for the insight. I thought Garrick McGee and Hardy Nickerson we’re hired like a day after Lovie also. I don’t know what their official hire dates were.I worked in HR for the State of Connecticut for 10 years. What happens there: Different jobs & job titles have differing hiring requirements. Also worked for a non-profit for about a decade. Not even close to having comparable hiring requirements as do State Agencies.
Chester's hire was done well before any job posting requirements. All sorts of ways to get around it for professional positions. Here are the guidelines to get a waiver on an academic hire. I don't know that it would apply for Frazier but I'm guessing it pretty easily could and would, as was the Lovie hire.Sure it could. Admittedly I know very little about the rules Illinois must follow. It seems other public universities police themselves saying they will post for x amount of days but also have a clause saying that can be negated by a vote. Why would they have been negotiating with them for so long and posted the position? Oh, there can be 'shortcuts' taken but that's the exception rather than the rule. Thanks for the insight. I thought Garrick McGee and Hardy Nickerson we’re hired like a day after Lovie also. I don’t know what their official hire dates were.
Thank you! I totally agree about Gentry. It seems like this has gone long enoughZ either you’re in or your out. You want to keep pursuing, you’re out. The optics might not look good for other potential ACs though.Chester's hire was done well before any job posting requirements. All sorts of ways to get around it for professional positions. • For Search Waivers:
o An explanation as to why a search is not feasible or possible
o A description of the process used to determine that the appointee is available for the position and qualified for the position
o A statement detailing the appointee's relevant qualifications for the position
o Information about all others who were considered and/or recommended, and why they were not selected
Information about other candidates should be included in nearly all cases except when the person is returning to a previously-held position
o Any other information that can help clarify the exceptional or urgent nature of this request
As to announcing the Alexander hire once again, that could all be informally done behinds the scenes. I do think that if Gentry is gone, they ought to force a resignation from him. If there is truly negotiating room where he might stay, I guess I'd be fine. But there's a length of time that is reasonable and in my opinion we're beyond that.
I love the flight tracker.
Dick Nagy and Richard Pitino?
Only Chester Frazier has been hired so far. Apparently Alexander is taking Gentry’s spot but Gentry to Gonzaga hasn’t been made official yet so who knows what’s going on there. There have been names thrown around for the other spot. CY and Mennenga to name a few but still nothing has been announced yet. Don’t know what the holdup is but things are starting get a little antsy. So wait, we haven’t hired anyone?
