Said it before and will say it again. There is a character/leadership flaw that Underwood needs to figure out.

Time will tell if it is a major cause for concern, but something doesnt feel right. And its not normal. Mark Smith (Mr. Basketball), Adam Miller (Mr. Basketball) and now all 3 Assistants leaving after the best finish in 15 years isnt normal.
You can say it 100 more times. Doesn’t make the story you are weaving in your head correct. Have you been paying attention to the current college basketball landscape?

Tell me, how would fixing this "character flaw" prevent Kentucky (the all-time winningest program) and Gonzaga (maybe the winningest program over the last 20 years) from recruiting your coaches?

If it gets us more #1 seeds, I'd say get more "character flaws."

Our coach isn't Mr. Rogers. He's pretty intense. BUT, it's always about $$ and career objective.

We aren't seeing a mass exodus of players via the portal. Also, just one decommitment.

A couple things I noticed...... he was very thankful to everyone except his fellow assistants.... and we now know it was the managers who supplied the Beet Juice!
Agreed. I did not notice the omission until you mentioned it. Good comment, it obviously was intentional.

Since Gentry is leaving on good terms, perhaps he wanted to allow us the Alexander announcement before Gonzaga makes their formal announcement. I mean that makes sense.
makes sense to you I guess but I'm talking about the "Friday" insinuation.

Am I worried? No. Do I wish we had gotten one of these guys on board by now? Yes.

I will say this, I like the level of guys we are targeting. I’m just ready to get back to the hand wringing over missed recruiting targets
instead of coaches.

Nothing but class Coach Gentry....Loyalty may throw stones, but that’s just “fan speak” and emotion.
Best of luck to you and your family.
I don’t think we ever had/have anything bad to say about him. It was only reports of rifts between him and other coaches that started those conversations. I always looked at him as a valuable staff member.

Agreed on how you felt about him.

But there seem to be a good number of people on here who think Gentry somehow drove a wedge in the coaching staff. In fact, I think our insiders heavily implied it. There was never concrete examples but it seemed like things Gentry did/how he acted pissed other assistants off in some way.

I'll bite. I can see how you came to that conclusion. But

1. We don't have a mass exodus of players. If we had a bunch of players leaving too, I'd question it, but you have two seniors who agreed to come back

2. These announcements all came side by side with good news e.g. Chester's announcement & Gentry's. The closeness of it to me (speculation) indicates mutual respect to not leave a program in a negative light

3. Gentry has been with Brad at several stops. Doubt he would've come here in the first place if there were major issues. Not to mention he's leaving for Gonzaga. His alma mater. and one of the hottest programs right now.

4. I'd get your argument more if Chin and Antigua were leaving for say Iowa, but they're leaving for Kentucky. Chin even noted how hard it was to say no to that. When you factor in the hesitation to leave immediately, it's hard to believe there's an issue.

Ok, so I guess FSU is the Cy Young winner this year, but fwiw at least we're the runner-up.
