Have to say that the original person I was told sounds like it was wrong, but the timing is still there. The other smoke I'm hearing is more of an up and comer. I think he's a solid get if it's him, but he's not as well-known to the casual fan.
Well you have all the bases covered. Either it's a superstar or it's not. You're correct no matter what .

Underwood is not hiring another AC this year. You can all dream all you want, it's not happening.

The third assistant has been hired. I can’t tell you who he is, when he will be announced or give any hint who he is that could wind up wrong when the name is ultimately revealed, because I made this up so y’all will think I’m an insider. Schmack! #insidersarcasm #siryachtgotnothingonme #lightenupimjustjoking

I know Chester has been at ACC and Big 12 schools, but I’d consider him an up and comer. So another guy like him even if his success has been on a lightly smaller stage wouldn’t bother me — as long as he’s had that success.

While it seems likely BU wasn’t able to corral his top pick(s), I wonder if the delay in hiring the final AC spot hasn’t been about taking a step back and putting even a bit more emphasis on staff chemistry and skills meshing now that those initial leading candidates are off the table. Given the rumors we’ve heard about friction between Gentry and the other two ACs, it is a possibility. If you can’t get the “best” then time to concentrate on best fit.

I'm fine with being wrong, and it's completely possible. I am not talking directly to Underwood, so what I'm hearing is not infallible. If you don't like what I've shared, that's your issue.
being wrong? you haven’t said anything. your entire post history is like this. you don’t know anything

edit: coalcity beat me to it. what a huckster

Fans may have wanted him hired back at Kentucky, but Cal didn't do anything until 4 years later and Payne had left. And no other blue blood programs hired him. He's a good recruiter and I was pleased that Underwood hired him at Illinois and I wish he had stayed, but I don't think he's as great as many other fans do. I also think his recruiting at Kentucky was made easier by the extras that assistants can offer.
Pure speculation. You don't know how many times that Cal approached OA and was turned down.

Because you're unable to decipher what I said doesn't mean that I made a broad statement. Others got it. I'm not providing anymore details now, so have it your way.
again, what details have you provided? “it’s a name that’s been mentioned. . .” wow, what insight. (and then you say even the zero info you provided is wrong!)

here, i’ll chip in and put you on ignore just in case

Not really. If Cal really came after OA earlier, no doubt he would have leveraged that into a big raise and new contract to stay, even if he had no intention of leaving.

Some of you guys are acting like PABs. Guy shared what he has and what he is comfortable sharing. Get off the guy, it seems his insight wasn't on the who, but the when.
A lot of frustration. No need to take it out on fellow UI fans. Supposed to be FamILLy.

Remember, OA left money on the table to go back to UK.

Solid resume with strong recruiting background and he works with post players. I love the look af this staff.
From Butlersports.com: "At both San Jose State and Cal Poly, Lowery was heavily involved in recruiting and was also in charge of skill development for the post players." Did same at Butler. ✅ ✅ for both of my preferences mentioned in a previous post.
