I can think of at least 20-30 coaches I’d take before Dabo …

And it’s not just a personal thing … Many people in CFB share my same thoughts …

I mean I find Dabo highly annoying myself but I’m calling BS on there being 30 better options for a college program right now. That’s objectively just a horrible take…

I think when he doesn't have a generational talent at QB he's been pretty good but not elite. Credit for recruiting multiple, but he also had midling results with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th rated QBs in their respective classes over the years.

If you remove the 7 Watson & Lawrence years, the other 9 years Clemson averaged finishing >20th in the final AP poll (all while still having a top 4 QB on their roster).

Sorry, but c’mon man. If there are 20-30 coaches you’d take ahead of Dabo, then I think it might be personal. Like I said, he needs to adapt to cfb changes or he won’t survive in the new era. If he’s willing to swallow his pride and accept that he has to change his approach to NIL and transfer portal, then he will be fine.
He won national championships in 2016 and 2018 and he has been to six playoffs in the past nine seasons. Kiffin’s doing good things at Ole Miss, but his head coaching track record doesn’t even sniff Dabo’s success. Like him or not, that’s a fact.
One of, if not the, most important duties of a HC is to hire good talent to surround you. And since Venables and Elliott have left Dabo has struggled in this area. He's not an offensive, defensive or ST savant, so if he is going to continue to succeed as a CEO type HC he needs to upgrade the quality of his personnel decisions

Kiffin wouldn't be that high on my list. Yes he's got some history at the school and he's going to have access to top talent at every position. But he took over a Cadillac at USC too and was fired in less than 4 seasons. We can assume he's learned something in the last decade, but Alabama fans aren't going to accept any 8-5 seasons.

I mean gees, Saban has lost more than 2 games only twice in his entire tenure at Alabama (17 years), once if you give him a pass for his first season.

I'd probably got with Lanning. Georgia grabbed Alabama's DC and built a monster, I'd see if I can keep my monster going by taking an ex-Georgia DC.
Kiffin's an SEC kind of guy. IMO his flameout at USC had more to do with how he is built than his coaching abilities. I think he's the absolute perfect fit for Bama, and that isn't really intended as a compliment.

You cannot conveniently remove 7 YEARS from a guys resume when judging him lmao. He’s 170-43 overall. Two National Championships, 8 ACC titles, a winning bowl record, winning CFP record, and had 12 straight 10 win seasons before a down year this year where he still won 9. You don’t have to like the guy, but the notion that he’s the 31st best coach in college football is absurd.

Agreed, but it’s not like any of his assistants that have gotten HC jobs have been savants . Chad Morris and Jeff Scott failed miserably. Tony Elliot isnt looking too hot. I think Brett Venables has a shot of sustained success. You have to give Dabo some credit and it’s amazing how one down year of 9 wins( us Illini fans were ecstatic to win 8 last year) has taken the shine off his past success.

You easily can if the majority of the accolades happened in those 7 years ..and if they finish 13th, 14th, & 20th the three following years still with top 2 HS rated QBs.

Judging Harbaugh without Luck, Saban without Tua/Hurts, Meyer without Tebow are all fair. Ignoring that Dabo has taken advantage of a historically weak ACC over those 7 years with 2 generational talents isn't.

Lol … We’re talking about Alabama … There’s 30 coaches who are all better than Dabo … It’s not even a debate …

Without an elite QB and Brent … Dabo is mid … And that’s just the coaching side …

You don’t think there’s NFL interest in this job ?? There’s active NFL HCs, OCs and DCs that are some of the best in the game that have had their agents call about this job …

With Lanning out of the running, I just don't know who is going to excite the fan base to feel like everything is going to continue chugging along with no interruption. I feel like Kiffin and Sark have their own issues that might be a cause for concern. If there are NFL names that get considered then maybe there is going to be a home run option I can't even imagine. But it seems like from the college ranks the best Alabama might do in this situation might be hitting a double, which is probably still great for them, but that won't automatically keep them as the #1 recruiting force in the sport. Insiders go ahead and tell me I'm wrong.

Obviously there’s going to be plenty of interest in the Bama job, but considering they’re already getting public rejections, I think you’re overselling the desire to directly follow in Saban’s foot steps. Sorry but I'm also not buying that there active NFL head coaches beating down the door to come coach Alabama right now. We get it you hate Dabo though.

So, uhhhhhh, approximately how much money and doctors do we need to pack into the Brinks truck to get Saban under contract here? Can't believe nobody has asked this yet. I mean this is Loyalty, right?
Hey, whoa, before you get an answer from Saban, you at least lob a phone call to John Holecek.

I thought this was widely known. It's also no coincidence that the recruiting his recruiting has been since the advent of NIL. It's amazing how leveling the playing field left some programs "vulnerable."

I get it that you have connections and I truly appreciate the info you share on here, but I still 100% disagree on your take with Dabo. You might hate him, but you can’t argue with his success. We can all say that no championship coach would be what they are without the superstars they coached. That’s not a valid statement because every coach did have those stars. I’d still take Dabo over Kiffin until Kiffin proves he’s better now than he was at USC and Tennessee(not going to include NFL & raiders).

Dabo seems to be very polarizing. I get that the religious stuff isn’t for everyone but he seems like a good guy who wins games, graduates players and runs a pretty clean program. At the very least it’s pretty hard to argue with his success.

If you restrict your list to coaches who have led their team to CFP recently

Smart - not leaving GA
Harbaugh - going to NFL
Sarkasian - don't want him
DeBoer - Only been at WA 2 years - better lock him up

Dykes TCU - got lucky
Day - not leaving OSU

Kelly - not leaving LSU
Sweeney - maybe?

Riley - maybe - had rough season at 7-5 at USC

Amazing how same coaches have dominated CFP last few years
