Herman would be a great hire for Illinois. Just because he isn't beating expectations at Texas doesn't make him a bad coach.
It does not translate to the field as he makes one dumb decision after another and costs the Longhorns at least 2 loses a yearNot too many football coaches belong to Mensa. Herman does.
I honestly think with where he was before the Georgia job he would have stayed in the NFL. I can't imagine he couldn't have caught on with a staff in the NFL if he wanted to stay there. I think by going to a high profile College job where he is calling the plays welas to show he is ready for a HC job in the FBS. Whether Illinois now a job he would consider is a different matter, but he is about as hometown as we are going to get and would easily get 4-5 years to prove he has got the chops and we aren't quite the worst job anymore. We have B1G level facilities, we have money, and we have a bit of talent. I would love for Todd to come here.I am not sure about Todd, think he just think he is looking for the right fit at this stage of hiss career whether NFL or college. Jeff is a great leader and I think he is a good system guy with his system but do think he could tweak it.
Haha I guess I just assumed they were brothers too. Oh well. Still consider both decent options.Wait wait wait..sooooo todd and jeff aren’t brothers..their cousins!!? Went down a little rabbit hole as to why todd left southern miss after a 9-5 season and seen that little tid bit. Not that I’ve been posting amazing stuff to begin with but figured I’d own up to my mistake on that one from earlier today lol
Herman>Zook, and there’s a lotta love out here for the Zookster. We got Zook at Florida’s yard sale. I’d jump at the chance to have an angry Herman coaching our team.Herman would be a great hire for Illinois. Just because he isn't beating expectations at Texas doesn't make him a bad coach.
I don't know what happened there. He looked so good and promising at Houston and I really thought he would carry that success to A&M where he was already recruiting Texas super well and it all just fell apart. I think dudes got the yips or something.Remember when Sumlin was the fan favorite to get our job in 2011 before A&M grabbed him? I’m pretty stunned at how he’s fallen off the rails.
Don’t know where to put this, but Delano Ware quit the team.
I’m sure you are right, but to quit now with two games left? Things are bad right, very bad.Sure that more will follow. Transfers and decommits on the way.
Well it is a pretty crappy day outside. Better to stay inside!I’m sure you are right, but to quit now with two games left? Things are bad right, very bad.
Does not change my mind, but guarantees we retain Lovie.Does a narrow victory today change anyone's opinion on Lovie. For me, due to the recruiting issues, I would say no. Not a lot here, but I had to get the number of responses on this thread off of Satan's number. Especially on Braggin' Rights Day.
6 wins? I didn't see 6 wins before the shortened session, 5 tops. That's unacceptable in year 5 of this dumpster fire. Actually this whole sh#t showcase started under Gunther. JW has his work cut for him with this football program. I was all for the Lovie he to start. Unfortunately, he's proven to be an inadequate college coach. I think his choice for assistants, lack of recruiting, and his stubbornness to change his defensive philosophy had doomed him.Just the worst mix of bad luck and timing this season. This game means so little.
I think the coaching is objectively bad, but this season would have been serviceable in year 5 but for Covid. It would have lent itself to maybe plateauing at 6 wins and turning over the keys to someone who could take things to the next level. The job would have been attractive.
instead, we begin a long off season of bad news. Transfers, decommits, bungled timing. I know it’s overblown about us being “cursed.” But man...
Correction, Todd did interview for NFL head coaching jobs.Todd Monken should have been hired instead of Beckman. I’m guessing he’ll go back to the NFL as soon as he can since he didn’t interview for head jobs before Cleveland. Jeff might be more likely. I’ve read he would adjust his offense for the personnel he has. Both would be great recruiters.
