Keep an eye on where Josh is on Friday night … All I’ll say about that …

Josh is making his actions known … Which is very rare for him … He’s confident … Which if I’m Brads agent … Would scare me …
God I love this. I want to run through a wall for Josh. He’s truly running this athletic department like a boss. I really hope he gets a chance to get his guy in SM.

I've yet to see that happen.

And TBH, there's more time during practice to patiently coach someone up than there is during a game. If you are intentionally not running the play, you should expect to get an earful, this isn't pee wee league.
Dude…put up with pretty much an ENTIRE SEASON of that too. If anything…it could of been far worse.

If he’s coaching one of his JUCO teams back in the day for ex.…I think it’s fair to say it doesn’t go down like this did. It would have been nipped in the bud.

Like a Good Neighbor, Wal-Mart is there! And so is good old big piles of Texas Black Gold greenbacks.

But so what? The Prairie State has... lots and lots of Corn along with the Illinois Pork Producers! Let's see anybody top THAT. Fresh Bacon and Grits! And the best fans in the whole World.

I am a huge fan of Brad … But what I’m not a fan of with Brad is the constant flirting with other programs … I got K State last year … He gets a pass for that … But he’s actively looking at every open job every year … After all we’ve done … That’s frustrating to hear 🤷🏻‍♂️

And as far as Sean goes … He’s a major upgrade … And while I’m a fan of Brad, I can’t sit here and say I wouldn’t prefer Miller … I don’t think there’s a single thing Brad does that Miller doesn’t do better

I’m not saying by sharing all this today that Brad is gone and it’s a done deal … I’m just sharing what I’m hearing … Good and bad …
This is why you are at the top of my favorite poster list. Honest and straight forward!! Thank you.

The million dollar question in my mind…

What does Whitman have to say about the Daddy Warbuck$e$ trying to tell Brad how to coach…did he intervene on his behalf?
I quote me…because this is an amendment to my earlier question.

I have no idea who is trying to tell Brad what…if it’s: coaching decisions, allocation of NIL moneys, or what exactly…but is this an ongoing coach that if Brad moves on…the next coach in line will also have to contend with?

* If I’m the one donating a fortune…I might a couple stipulations if I thought it was being squandered. Just saying.

If y’all had to rank the big ten head coaching jobs how would the top 5 look?
It's honestly too difficult to rank them in order, because little things will push one over the other by an inch, depending on what a coach values. For example, it would be nearly impossible to objectively judge Illinois vs. Maryland ... they are SO similar in so many ways, and more intangible things like regional culture or family ties might enter into the equation.

However, I do think there's a clear top five in general, and it's below. I'd go with the following, breaking my earlier post about there being fewer tiers of jobs than this. :ROFLMAO:

Tier One
Indiana
Ohio State
Illinois
Maryland
Michigan

Tier Two
Michigan State
Wisconsin
Purdue

Tier Three
Minnesota
Iowa
Rutgers

Tier Four
Penn State
Nebraska

Tier Five
Northwestern

(1) The top five jobs have proven to be able to have sustained success through multiple coaches, AND they are the most popular teams in their states. All have huge alumni/fan bases, and even if fan apathy within their states might kick in when they aren't good (Illinois or Maryland), there is not a preferred other team for fans that they have to overcome for support - compared to Purdue ALWAYS being just a notch below Indiana in their own state, even when they've been better than them for years. All five have a winning tradition, great facilities, wealthy donors and great instate recruiting.

(2) The Tier Two jobs have some things going for them, but I would argue they've been propped up by certain coaches themselves doing extraordinarily well - if not in spite of the job's limitations, at least not because the job is especially well endowed to win quickly. Wisconsin's instate talent is lacking. MSU might take a clearer backseat to Michigan instate in the years after Izzo retires. I already touched on Purdue.

(3) Tier Three jobs are fine, and each has its pluses. Rutgers has a shockingly engaged/loyal fan base for how bad they are historically, and the theoretical potential with NJ and NYC recruiting is easy to see ... however, facilities/AD finances are kind of a mess, and institutional support for sports seems less organized. Iowa has a decent history, but the instate recruiting is awful, and facilities are "meh." Minnesota has decent instate recruiting and ZERO competition for it, but they're just really in a bad spot, with multiple pretty decent coaches failing repeatedly there.

(4) Tier Four jobs are difficult simply due to a lack of tradition to the point where a large chunk of those schools' football fans literally cheer for other teams (like Creighton or Villanova). The money from their ADs is always channeled toward football first (even more so than your average place), and while they should be better at basketball than they are, there needs to be a bit more "proof" to move up to Tier Three. I'll say this, though ... if PSU ponies up and convinces Shrewsberry to stay, they have an argument that the time's are changin' and they're Tier Three.

(5) Tier Five is Northwestern alone for a reason ... it's one of the hardest jobs in the Power Five. We all know the many reasons why.

With all of that said, the gap will be bigger/smaller for every coach. We've previously discussed how Big Ten coaches just don't seem to move intra-conference, but if I'm at an Iowa equivalent and a Wisconsin equivalent opens up, I do not take it immediately ... the perceived additional advantages I'll get in my ability to win big will have to outweigh all of the negatives of upping my family and moving and also the pain in the !!! of rebuilding.

well, the minute you give the money away, the only leverage you have is to withhold giving any more.
That fat stack you gave away already, is water under the bridge.

This is a really bad idea. Brad's a good dude and we're better than that.
Agreed. And if I was a high performing coach looking to make a move and I had options (which I'd hope is who we are targeting), I'd definitely be paying attention to how we did that to our previous coach when weighing my options as to whether I join that program. Just me though.

Idk how you can not put MSU with multiple national championships in different eras, a zillion final 4s and S16s and a constant national brand with a sold out arena in tier 2.

Purdue has had multiple very good coaches and eras and similar to MsU, has a great and constant sold out arena and brand.

I love Illinois but to an outsider, I don’t see our job/place as better than those 2.

I wouldn't worry too much about this scenario - I'm pretty sure that Josh and others have a better understanding of the ins and outs and whathaveyous of employment law than uofi7477.

That would be a pre-season Top 5 team in the country

Leave out the top three and get a pt. Guard in the portal and you might be right.

I’m a BU fan as well. But if he is job searching at the end of every season then he isn’t going to be around much longer. If another school comes open that Miller would jump on before Brad makes his move then what’s the option? Maybe JW sees the writing on the wall and thinks you take Sean while you can, for this very reason.
