I’m a BU fan as well. But if he is job searching at the end of every season then he isn’t going to be around much longer. If another school comes open that Miller would jump on before Brad makes his move then what’s the option? Maybe JW sees the writing on the wall and thinks you take Sean while you can, for this very reason.
Agreed. He’s the 8th highest paid coach in the league and never made it out of the first weekend. Part of the reason Josh broke the bank for him was to lock him in for the long term.

I don't think BU is going anywhere.... But if he does I'm all for giving Shauna Green a shot at the Men's BB job.

This song really defines not just today but the whole season................It really really does......

Cosmic Wheels by Donovan......................

a gift from your friend , ole pru.......................get relaxed and let these tunes take all your coaching carousel worries away.....you will enjoy it , I'm sure ......just close your eyes and let the music and lyrics take you away to a calmer vaccum.....you deserve it , you need it and daggum it , you have earned it being a part of Illini nation and this oddball season....
Hey Pru. Thanks for the Donovan. A real gem! You probably already know that a pre-Yardbirds/Led Zeppelin Jimmy Page plays lead guitar on "Season of the Witch" . Love it! Now back to regularly scheduled program.

I would not disagree with that at all. Its literal only downfall is if it bothers you personally as a coach that their fan support is so pathetically bad for what you'd expect. Yeah, yeah, good weather and things to do.
I actually think that UCLA has excellent fan/alumni support for basketball. That doesn't always show in the attendance figures, particularly for weeknight games. Speaking from experience, getting to Westwood during rush hour is a nightmare. Lots of wealthy alumni buy a season package, then don't show up for the complete schedule. They could fill the arena most games if they also didn't make it so difficult for students ("hey kids, come stand in line for hours on a school night without any guarantee that you'll get in!"). Literally ALL of the on-campus undergrad housing (11,000 beds) is within a 10 minute walk of Pauley. Honestly, for all the success their teams have in many sports, the Athletics Department's customer service is pretty poor.

Assessing one's options at the end of each season and looking at every new season as a new project sounds to me like a coach who is well plugged into the reality of the current landscape and the current player.

You can't be mad at Underwood for staying abreast of the marketplace, that's ridiculous, that's not a standard anyone should be held to in any job.

That being said, it's an age old tradition to use other job offers to try and squeeze a better deal out of your current employer in college sports, and there comes a time where the answer on the sweeter deal is no.

That hasn't been Whitman's M.O., he's been Mr. All The Resources All The Time as an AD, but it looks like we've hit a moment where the answer is no.

And that's fine! Both sides are playing the hand they've been dealt. This is big boy sports, there's no reason for anyone to take any of this personally or see it as some harbinger of disloyalty.

I think it's absolutely the right move for anyone to seek out the best position for themselves based on whatever combination of compensation and location and lifestyle they value in any industry.

That also entails using your value to others to improve your deal with your current employer. But you also can't do it too often without pissing off your current employer. And you generally need to do it from a position of strength, which BU doesn't really have right now coming off a fresh raise/extension followed by a season that didn't meet expectations.

I certainly don't blame him or hold it against him if any of the rumors are true, but I do question his strategy.

I am a huge fan of Brad … But what I’m not a fan of with Brad is the constant flirting with other programs … I got K State last year … He gets a pass for that … But he’s actively looking at every open job every year … After all we’ve done … That’s frustrating to hear 🤷🏻‍♂️

And as far as Sean goes … He’s a major upgrade … And while I’m a fan of Brad, I can’t sit here and say I wouldn’t prefer Miller … I don’t think there’s a single thing Brad does that Miller doesn’t do better

I’m not saying by sharing all this today that Brad is gone and it’s a done deal … I’m just sharing what I’m hearing … Good and bad …
Well.....As my pappy used to tell me about women you date, "you can easily lose 'em how ya get 'em."

I was eating lunch in Mahomet today. At the next table, Josh Whitman was sitting with Larry Brown and Jerry Colangelo. I wonder what that was all about?
Wait a minute....you're telling me that Larry Brown and Jerry Colangelo were in Mahomet Illinois for lunch today??? WTH....Monicals...Jimmy Johns...or DQ???

I’ve followed this thread intermittently at work all day. As someone who is no longer a night owl, let me express my gratitude for enjoying some Loyalty After Dark during daylight hours. ;)

Yup, I hope he stays and wins a Natty here.
Love that guy. But I agree 100%.
We'll see how this week goes 🤷‍♂️

Why? He can get talent and has taken us to where we haven't been since 06 but our offense without a 7ft 285lb Kofi on the floor our offensive scheme has not been good. Couple that with the fact we have only won one NCAA tournament game and 0 sweet 16 games I just don't see it like I did with Self.
To be fair all of Self’s postseasons ended a round earlier than the previous year while he was here.

I'd like to hear what the insiders thoughts are on our '23 and '24 recruits staying committed if BU leaves?
