This morning Josh Whitman was back in Mahomet eating breakfast. This time just with Jerry Colangelo. I was not very subtle and Josh could tell I was trying to listen to their conversation. So they kept it to a whisper. When Josh went to pay at the register he grabbed a candy bar. As he was leaving he gave me a wink and showed me the candy bar. It was a 3 Musketeers! Was he trying to tell me he was bringing in the trio of Xavier Musketeers Head Coach Sean Miller, assistant coach Adam Cohen, and strength coach Andy Kettler? I don't know any other way it could be interpreted.
I think he was trying to exert dominance by showing you directly to your face that he was stealing this candy bar.

After reading numerous posts on this topic the past 36 hours....I've come to these conclusions.... 1) most here think BU has done a pretty decent job considering where the program was when he first arrived....2) have we made progress....absolutely.....3) are we relevant .....yes....4) are we competing for championships....B10 wise...yes.....national level...no.....5) are we recruiting at a higher level....yes....6) has the NIL made a difference in the progress of improvement of the program....this one is probably 50-50....I'm gonna say to be determined.....7) are there concerns with the offensive schemes that BU and staff employee....yes......8) are there concerns with the defensive schemes that are used....not really, been pretty good here most of the time.....9) are there concerns about the culture surrounding the program....not until this year....could that be results of the NIL portal system.....maybe.....10) and finally, are we Elite.....no.....but probably most think we're hoovering somewhere just below that level.......So....with changes to some of the areas mentioned above and others in previous threads, can we compete for national championships...can we become Elite.....absolutely.....can BU and his staff make these changes... that's the question....I believe they can and think we need to be patient (given what BU has accomplished over the past 3-4 years) and see what transpires with the recruits coming in the next year or so and what the portal produces.....jmo

Rick Pitino on making St. John's relevant again

"We'll probably have to bring in six to eight players from this basketball team and that's going to take a lot of work."

I wonder how many strippers they'll bring in?

Mike Repole the billionaire behind Body Armour said any money Rick needs he gets so its going to be pretty wild there.

Coach Underwood did a great job this year considering we couldn't hit a 3. We had a chance at winning the B10 with 2-3 games left, we all new starters, and nobody could shoot. IMO, we were weak mentally and never could get started, but man we could comeback with our defense and barely lose. I saw coach "acting a fool" a couple times during the year to get the team stronger mentally, but it just wasn't there. I think Goode will help next year, and maybe Rodgers. Man do I miss Trent, as we needed a leader on the floor that would say "give me the ball I'll make the shot".

Just having a little fun.
I've never thought Brad deserved to be fired for the results this season. I think people who do are still carrying some feelings from the 2021 tournament loss. But I do think he should be open to criticism and roster construction is a big one, and that's something that falls squarely on the head coach. It's not year 1 or 2, this was year 6 and if you don't have a team that can run the system you want, or play as hard as you want, or be an "everyday guy", or can't shoot 3s or FTs, that's on Brad. Hopefully this year will be a learning experience for his since everyone is still fairly new to the transfer portal and NIL wild west way of life that is now the norm.

It might not exactly fit Occam’s razor, but coaches/agents do this stuff every year to get raises extensions. It happens across all levels and every sport.

Drumming up speculation to receive benefits is the second older trick in the book. I choose to believe that’s what’s happening here. Or (and maybe this is more likely) we’re all sheep following one idiot off a cliff who randomly says BU is unhappy and therefore gone.

This can be BU's agent involved in all of this, but if BU isn't interested he would have told his agent not to bother.

Lots of people here are employers and management types. My experience is these things end in separation. A point comes when the employee is told that every effort has been made to give them what they want. If they aren't happy then it's clear we aren't in your long term plans. As such, you aren't in ours.
If it were you in your current job and you employed someone who's job is to look out for your best interest...that's literally his job, you wouldn't want them to put all information that he/she collects in front of you? If people take the approach where they won't ever accept phone calls or have a quick conversation, those calls will stop coming. You don't want that, ESPECIALLY in an industry as volatile as competitive sports with salaries being what they are. You lose all leverage, even though you don't plan to exercise that leverage....at that point. If BU were 65/70 years old and planned to call it quits in a couple of years...agreed, don't take the call.

Look at some of our fan base, heck, look at some of this board have turned on him because he hasn't gotten to the second weekend of the tournament. So, again even on this board, think that he should be on the hot seat after EVERYTHING that he's done for this program. You don't think that he hears this stuff? He'd be doing himself a complete disservice if he didn't evaluate his situation year in and year out. In an era of NIL and portal activity, it's a year by year crapshoot. He won 20 games trying to recover from a roster that lost 85% of everything and it wasn't good enough for some. If he's expecting another 80% turnover, much like Shrewsbury and Collins....have to look. College athletics has turned ugly and in an era of instant gratification amongst the fans or a revolt, if it's me... everything is on the table.

Either that or he was recommending/promoting 3 Musketeers. hmmmmmmmm

Again, comes down to if BU/his agent are taking calls or making calls. Big difference between the two, IMO.
