Sorry, to start this discussion up again, but......, Indy intimated yesterday that there could still be some news coming regarding Self and Kansas. Does this mean there is the possibility of a domino to still fall? Honestly, I hope BU is here for a long time, but I fear if Tang is offered Kansas job, we could end up losing him to his alma mater.

of course anything is possible in the carousel

but the two schools most often listed as being intriguing to BU, were Texas and Kansas St, so I have a hard time seeing how Kansas St ever opens up with the possibility that Self retires at KU.

If Tang is offered the KU job.....

I have a real hard time seeing that happen. Arch rivals just dont really hire from one another - but yea, in theory its "possible".

Im 99.9% sure they will finds their new coach, if needed, elsewhere.
I think KU as a blue blood will go for whoever they feel is the #1 target regardless of school. That said, I don’t think Tang from 1 year at KSU would fit the 1A hire.

KU is rolling right now even as a blue blood - they could pick just about anyone they want and could probably look into the NBA ranks as well if it’s the right situation.

Oats? Musselman?

I doubt NBA successful NBA coaches are going to say sure, I'd much rather recruit and live in Lawrence, Kansas. Yeah that's not happening.

The top 2 guys out there for most any search are Oats and Musselman. Kansas has the money and the clout to land them. The question I've posed is, if it is Oats, does anyone want to fill his role in Alabama? Would Tang be interested in Alabama? Would Underwood be interested in Alabama? My answer would be no way, but I have no info to back that up.

If it were to be Musselman, I could definitely see big time coaches being interested in Arkansas. So IF Self does retire, the way we lose Underwood is through the carousel. If Oats is the replacement, I'm not sure the carousel spins much.

Alabama is a football blueblood, but in the basketball world they are really just a regular job. That opening wont get the carousel spinning .

Musselman isnt going to be very likely switching schools in conference, and Kansas St is clearly same level or even a step up from Bama in hoops.

I have a really really hard time seeing BU interested in going to Tuscaloosa, or any other B1G coach being targeted for that matter. Bama got Oats from Buffalo 4 years ago, they might look at a successful group of 5 type coach again.

Kennedy at UAB, formerly of Ole Miss, comes to mind

My guess would be Dusty May ends up at Alabama if Oats leaves. I don't think Alabama basketball has the sway to take someone away from a P6 program.

my comment was concerning Bama trying to poach him

Bruce Weber said he wants back in coaching but the fit has to be near his family and it has to be a place he could win.
Bruce Weber is 66 years old and was fired from his only 2 P6 jobs. Now granted he also had great success at both stops, but I don't think any P6 teams are out there looking for Bruce Weber.

I actually think Bruce Weber would have fared much better in the NIL era. If someone could buy him players and let him coach them, he's proven he knows the Xs and Os.

Weber is a washed up failure of a coach. He probably couldn’t get a job coaching a Rec league.

Although…

1x NCAA coach of the year
1x Big 10 coach of the year
1x Big 12 coach of the year
1x Missouri Valley coach of the year
2X Big 10 champ
2x Missouri Valley champ
2x Big 12 champ
13 NCAA tournament appearances
2 sweet 16s
1 elite 8
1 NCAA runner up
497 regular season wins
