This is what happens when you have all these ninth man conversations. Hope he's back to pants missouri again

Talked to a couple people, sorry for the delay.

Obviously not great news, surgery is never good.

The feeling as of now is that he has a pretty decent chance to be back by late October depending on how it reacts. I think worse case is mid to late November.

Don’t think he will miss many games if any, but not great to not have him for practice.

In terms of the freshman getting more responsibility I think it could bode well.

I think there’s a chance he could miss a couple non conference games, but knowing Mirk he will do everything in his power to not have that be the case.

Mid November return I think would be the conservative prediction in terms of an actual game but I would bet he plays game #1.

I would love to hear DB's response to this. Man, I sure hope that you're right.

Thank you for sharing this, and hopefully tempering the theatrics a bit!

With the surgery he had, if it's possible to be back game 1 (or at least by TTU/Duke in mid-November), then I would bet he's back by game 1.

Remember the David Mirkovic we're talking about here, folks.

Without knowing the injury, hard to say.

But this is a guy this program has not been shy hyping up as a nba guy this year.

Foot injuries with big men are scary. Obviously would love him back soon, and I’m sure he’ll do everything he can, but that maters to me in not rushing him back - which I’m sure they won’t, just makes me a bit more pessimistic on timeline

Optimism is back on the menu baby

Hell Yeah Brother GIF

I made a deeply analytical graph of what I imagine the realist Illini fan's optimism levels will be when we look back on this offseason:

my optimism never left the menu.......this is part of the path this team has to walk to get back to the FF.....I have complete faith in the coaching staff and players that we will be okay and better after Mirko-Man gets a clean bill of health.............

we are a top 5-10 team with numerous options to use to make this a special season.......keep a glass half full approach and it will all work out for the best........LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..............

I heard 3 months and back during conference play...but who knows at this point. Gotta love our preseason luck...
Just awful. If it’s conference play, gotta assume there’s a chance he doesn’t come back and just begins preparing for the draft at that point.
