English Premier League 2023/24

What a joke. And Man City and Chelsea continue to face no consequences. It's almost like the NCAA

The one thing that does help in regards to Everton's chances to stay up is that their schedule is not overly tough the rest of the season. They still have tough matches against top sides like Chelsea away this coming Monday, the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, and they end the season at Arsenal. But they also get home matches against Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Sheffield United, and an away match at Luton Town.

With the Premier League season coming into its final stretch, here's how things look towards the bottom of the table:

14. Crystal Palace 30
15. Brentford 29
16. Everton 27
17. Nottingham Forest 25
18. Luton Town 25
19. Burnley 19
20. Sheffield United 16

And here's who each of those teams have left:
-Palace: Liverpool away, West Ham and Newcastle at home, Fulham away, Manchester United at home, Wolves away, Villa at home
-Brentford: Sheffield United at home, Luton Town and Everton away, Fulham at home, Bournemouth away, Newcastle at home
-Everton: Chelsea away, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Brentford at home, Luton Town away, Sheffield United at home, Arsenal away
-Forest: Wolves at home, Everton away, Manchester City at home, Sheffield United away, home vs. Chelsea, Burnley away
-Luton Town: Manchester City away, Brentford at home, Wolves away, Everton at home, West Ham away, Fulham at home
-Burnley: Brighton & Hove Albion at home, Sheffield United and Manchester United away, Newcastle at home, Spurs away, Forest at home
-Sheffield United: Brentford away, Burnley at home, Manchester United and Newcastle away, home vs. Forest, Everton away, home vs. Spurs

So who ends up being the 3 getting relegated among that group?

I know that Palace does have a bit of a cushion but they've struggled for points recently and roughly half their points have come against the bottom 3 sides and their remaining schedule does them no favors.

In the EFL Championship, it's a 3 team race for the two automatic promotion spots. Leicester City and Ipswich Town are tied atop the table with 88 points and Leeds United has 87 points. Leicester has a match in hand on the other two sides. Ipswich Town last played in the Premier League in the 2001-02 season and this would be their 2nd straight season gaining promotion, following a move up from League One via an automatic promotion spot after last season. 4th through 6th are currently occupied by Southampton (78 points), West Bromwich Albion (72 points), and Norwich City (68 points). The next closest sides are Coventry City and Preston North End at 63 points with both having a match in hand on Norwich.

As far as relegation from the Championship to League One, Rotherham United has already clinched relegation with only 23 points. Above them, there are 6 clubs within 4 points of each other. Blackburn Rovers (46 points), Stoke City (46 points), Plymouth Argyle (45 points), and Huddersfield Town (43 points; -23 GD) are all above the relegation zone. Sheffield Wednesday (43 points; -31 GD) and Birmingham City (42 points) are currently in the relegation spots.

Wonder what happened to Blackburn this year. For most of the year last year, they were in or around the 4-6th position then collapsed a bit at the end of the year. I believe their goal differential was near even so kind of an anomaly they were that high to begin with. This year, they are crap.

Would have to think that losing at home to Palace would dash any title hopes Liverpool had.

I wouldn't go that far. They are only 2 points back with 6 games to play. With Arsenal also losing at home to Villa, City is definitely in the driver's seat, though.

Yeah, I had posted that before the Villa loss by Arsenal.

These are the remaining fixtures the top 3 have:

-Arsenal: Wolves away, Chelsea home, Spurs away, Bournemouth home, Manchester United away, Everton home
-Liverpool: Fulham away, Everton away, West Ham away, Spurs home, Villa away, Wolves home
-City: Brighton & Hove Albion away, Forest away, Wolves home, Fulham away, Spurs away, West Ham home

It's also worth noting that due to City's participation in both Champions League and next weekend's FA Cup semifinals at Wembley, where they'll face Chelsea, their next PL match will not be until April 25. Both Arsenal and Liverpool will have played two PL matches before City play in the PL again.

Wrexham has clinched promotion for a second straight season and will play in League One next season. If things break just right for them, they may be able to win the points title in League Two outright.
congrats to them and their supporters! i still want to go back and watch all of those episodes

Sheffield United could be relegated as early as Wednesday if the following happen:

-Forest win at Everton tomorrow
-Sheffield United lose at Manchester United on Wednesday
-Everton defeat Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday

Leicester City clinched promotion back to the Premier League after Leeds United lost at QPR today 4:0. Leeds only has one match remaining while Leicester has 2 and is up 4 points on Leeds. Ipswich Town is 5 points behind Leicester and has a match in hand but would only be able to top Leicester for the points title in the Championship.
