English Premier League 2023/24

Everton have now made up the 10 point deduction that was imposed by the Premier League after today's win over Burnley, another clean sheet victory. First time since 2002 they have had at least 4 consecutive victories with clean sheets (that season they had 5). First time since December 2020 they've won 4 straight matches. Also earned their 5th away win this season, more than the last 2 seasons combined.

Steve Cooper (who I swear is a doppleganger for Mike White, the actor who played Jack Black's friend in School of Rock) sacked by Nottingham Forest today. In their last 6 matches, Forest have lost 5 and finished with a draw once.

Former Wolves and Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo is currently in talks to take over for Cooper.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was given a straight red card for this tackle in today's FA Cup 3rd round match against Crystal Palace:

Managers on both sides didn't agree with the red card being given.

If Roy Hodgson is sacked at Crystal Palace (and one would have to imagine it is coming pretty soon after today's 5:0 defeat at the Emirates), it seems that former Chelsea manager Graham Potter may be a potential option as a replacement.

apparently he talked them into a little more time but seems pretty inevitable.

I had seen that story as well but he has since been released from the hospital. The move actually would have probably been made sooner had he not had to be taken to the hospital.

Everton's PSR penalty reduced from 10 points to 6 following an appeal. Reduction means that they move up to 15th in the table, ahead of Brentford on goal differential. They're now 5 points clear of the relegation zone.

Best I could have hoped for, all things considered. Would have liked to see it reduced it even further but it is what it is. Now the concern goes to what they'll find in the 2nd PSR case against them and Nottingham Forest.

Title race is going to be fun down the stretch after today's 1:1 draw at Anfield between Liverpool and Manchester City. Top 3 of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are separated by just one point. Arsenal and Liverpool at 64 points with Arsenal ahead on goal difference. Manchester City at 63 points. Arsenal travels to the Etihad to take on Manchester City on March 31.

Chelsea heading towards bigger points deduction than Everton and Nottingham Forest

The former Crystal Palace chairman said: "What Stefan is basically saying in the shortest of terms is that is absolutely inconceivable that by December of next year that Chelsea won't be facing a charge from the Premier League for breaching Financial Fair Play, unless there's a complete sea change in the rules or a complete re-rowing back from that perspective.

"If you're looking at Chelsea's numbers, unless they're going to sell somewhere in the region of £200m worth of players, so the players you think they're least likely to sell, then Chelsea are going to be in the situation Nottingham Forest and Everton have been in this time next year."

When asked by host Jim White if that was fair, Borson went even further, suggesting Chelsea face a more serious penalty than Everton and Forest.

Liverpool have abandoned plans to pursue Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso as a replacement for Klopp. Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim are considered leading candidates for the job.

Everton handed additional 2 point deduction for PSR breaches. They move down one spot to 16th in the table, just 2 points above the relegation zone. Premier League also added that there is a dispute over accounting for Everton's new stadium. The dispute is whether the stadium funds for Everton's new stadium should be counted as losses in regards to PSR. Premier League says it should and Everton disagrees.

Premier League says that Everton could face another penalty and that it will be resolved "at a later date" but it is not expected to be concluded this season.

What a joke. And Man City and Chelsea continue to face no consequences. It's almost like the NCAA
