Man Underwood always has some cruiters! You could win some games with that list of dudes on a team.

I always liked Podz, and I thought he was a kid who always hustled and had a ton of potential. After listening to Podz’s shout out tribute to Trent and his emphasis on which important qualities Trent taught him, I am REALLY sorry to see him go. I wish him good luck and success at bringing Santa Clara to the tourney.

Folks here can tell me all day that he would not make the floor this year, I'll still miss him. Great attitude and to pull a Mr. Basketball out of Wisconsin was a great signal as to where this program was going.

I took it much more as I think @Epsilon took it, we pushed him out - no matter how kindly - and the interviewer was probing to see if he could get a sharpened comment.
Nah, he mentioned family in Illinois and Wisconsin. I don't think he was angling for anything, but Podz took it that way. Maybe that means we did push him out.

I like the kid. His dad was fun on here. I hope he does well and I hope he makes it back to the tourney

Agree, and you said it better than I did. More Podz's reaction to the question than the question itself.

Some nice comments about TF and his guidance but his other ‘no comment’ comment about Illinois makes me wonder what conversations were had with the staff and/or former teammates.
Agreed. Wonder what that was about. IMO he misunderstood the question to be about his former team rather than his family when he made his "no comment" comment.

That’s certainly how I took it. He wasn’t going to say anything negative toward Illinois just because he just had a great game. I thought he showed class as he and his family always did.

This is exactly the type of Illini curse story I've come to expect as a fan. One of our all time greats mentors a promising freshman, only for said freshman to part ways with the team and then go on to transfer and achieve enviable success and then give all the credit to our all time great player for molding him into the amazing player that he is. Pulling for Podz but really hope this story doesn't come true...

If he has this enviable success it’s at a lower level than here.

I pose this question to the board, who does Podz play over on this team?

If Podz were still here, this is what I see.

RJ
TJ
Mayer

Ty
Luke
Epps
Dainja
