Former Illini in College Hoops

Burn the NCAA to the ground. The old ways are done... Time to adjust. I still love college basketball and probably always will!
Appears to grant players total free agency. If no loyalty of players, no loyalty for this fan. Do you follow a player or a team, for me neither.

College athletics is already over, IMO. Minor leagues at this point with no team rights to the player. Been coming for a long time, I'm not arguing right/wrong; just saying it will never go back to what it once was.

Does RayJ Dennis count as a former Illini?
Given that he was, by some accounts, a lock…
Ill Allow It GIF

So… Miller, Curbelo et al can play for 14 days? Then what?
From what I read, yes, they can play for those 14 days. But, on the 27th, the prelim injunction will be ruled on. Either it's upheld, or the two time transfer rule is still in effect. So basically they can play for 14 days and then on the 27th, the decision will be either they can continue to play to end of season or they are inactive.

Interesting you put it that way. For me I'm tied into the Illini (a team) mostly because I grew up in this area and my dad had season tickets but I know younger kids are more and more comfortable just being fans of a player (especially in the NBA) which makes sense since it's so easy to watch anyone if they want to.

I basically didn't have an option to watch any other team unless they were on ESPN back in the day but technology has expanded and people don't have to be a local fan if they don't want to and have more choices now.

I think choice is a good thing even if it takes away from the old system which I felt was unbalanced to people in the NCAA vs people who provided the entertainment and generated the revenue

Just watched Arkansas St. stomp Louisville. The Ville has a lot of issues. Skyy Clark in the words of my son played like “butt cheeks.”
0 assists, 5 turnovers. that followed 0 assists and 4 turnovers last game. if my quick math is correct the season is 22 assists to 32 turnovers in 10 games.

Can't believe we bet the farm on this guy.

He miscast. Not a point guard. Let him be a high colume shooter as a 2, you won't win big, but at least he wont turn you over at too high a rate to win.

Be careful what you wish for. The NCAA (a member-run organization btw) is the only thing holding this amalgamation of colleges and universities together from an athletic competition perspective. Blow it up, and how does it work? Something has to step in the void to avoid the ensuing chaos of its' elimination, and what will that be? Anything put in its' place will undergo the same difficulties, scrutiny and criticism, which means the institution of college athletics (and its' "student" athletes) will be the ones most impacted. Revolution for revolution's sake is not the answer.

It has been filed to extend the temporary order through the spring sports seasons.

I wonder if Wolf regrets his decision to x'fer to LSU, can you imagine a backcourt w/TSJ and a senior Wolf? I think Adam might of been a sure fire lottery puck had he stayed.
I've thought of this and believe Wolf's transfer was best for Illinois. Shannon may not come if we had Miller, Miller just never developed at LSU. He never bought into the program like Ayo, even as a committed player his arrival was never a certainty.

Also don't think he would have developed beyond a solid college player but not NBA player

Like Bardo saying, he doesn't own the fridge.
