Should have been an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the TD. It certainly would have been called if it was us.

GOSH DARNIT. Time for the D to step up again…

Maybe I’m wrong, but our defense seems to be playing well. The last TD drive really only happened because of the lucky catch on a desperation throw due to our pressure. Let’s just not let that happen again.

We need to develop a kick return game

I am pretty sure Ive seen a stat that shows it’s rarely worth it. Yes, a big return can be a momentum shift, but the overwhelming majority of returned kickoffs fail to get past the 30 yard line. While this is better than the 25, the risk of injury or fumble is not worth the reward.

Keep in mind: Iowa is the outlier here, not Illinois. I think Michigan returns a lot too.

I understand not running it out of the end zone, but a fair catch at the 10 isn’t good.

You get it at the 25 anywhere you fair catch it within the 25. And again, I think the stats show that it’s not worth retuning kicks pretty much anywhere within the 10 yard range.
